Moving over from Medifast group

Hi All- I'm new here and have moved over from the Medifast group. I lost 6 lbs on my first week of Medifast but could not stomach the foods any longer. So here I am.

I'm planning on 1200-1500 calorie range for some serious weight loss. I am a bit confused about how many carbs I should be allowed although MyFitnessPal seems to have a set ratio when you put in the calories. I know that I do better and weight loss works w/ lower carbs higher protein. Any suggestions for anyone who has/had 100 lbs to loose?

Glad I made the decision to eat real food and am looking forward to this journey! Oh, yesterday was the first day I incorporated real foods into my diet and calorie counted and still lost 1 lb. I'm going to still eat the couple of things that I could stomach like the shakes and bars but then when those are through I will fully cross over to real food...yay!!!
Thanks-
G

Sounds like you have a plan. I have lost all of my weight CC'ing and definitely find it most flexible. I also have better success with a moderated carb and higher protein plan. Moderate carb and high protein seems to move the weight loss along and help with cravings for me.

Best of Luck on your journey! :)

I suggest starting at a higher calorie count. You could probably safely lose on around 1800 calories a day (or more). I wouldn't go for the 1200 range until you're much closer to your goal weight (and therefore have less "wiggle room" when it comes to creating a deficit).

I didn't do any better with weight loss when I paid attention to nutrients vs when I just counted calories. I still lost at the same rate, but I had more energy and felt better when I ate real food and had higher protein/lower carb :)

Good luck!

Thanks guys. The past couple of days I've been in the 1400 range so I might stick with that. It's so much food after the piddly 900-1000 in medifast and I feel so full!

I've grown to like eating every 3 hrs and hope to keep that up. It's so nice to be eating whole foods again!

Unfortunately my plans to exercise got sidetracked by a foot surgery I'm having tomorrow. It will be a month before I can do any walking. I guess I'll just focus on the eating plan and when I get to walk at least my foot won't be killing me!
