3rd time's the charm??
Hi everyone! :)
I have been an active member of this site twice before and have fallen off the wagon. I'm coming back for a third time. I am going to try with everything in me to stick with it this time. I'm 27 and have been over weight for almost 4 years now. It has started taking a toll on my body: it hurts my knees to walk for a long period of time, my back hurts and so on. That was my wake up call. Also, I haven't decided if I want to have more children or not, but I am definitely not in the proper shape to do it now. I was overweight for my 1st pregnancy and I was absolutely miserable. I couldn't enjoy it at all. My daughter just turned 3 and, it's really sad, but I have hardly any pictures of myself with her because I hate the way I look :( I want to change that so badly. By next summer, I want to be able to run and play and ride bikes with her. Well, enough of my sob story, time to get to work. I'm so glad to be back here with all of you! You're all so helpful, inspirational and motivational!!:D |
The only advice at this part of your journey that I can impart is, diet smart, not hard. Don't set yourself up to fail by being too rigid or by having an all or nothing attitude. Since you're in the calorie counting section, I take you already know that all it takes is a 500 calorie per day deficit to achieve results--so don't go getting all drastically restrictive with yourself. Like Tina Turner used to sing "we never do anything nice and easy--we always do things nice and rough" -- I find as dieters the majority of us tend to do things nice and rough because we don't realize the same results can be had by doing things nice and easy.

Hi! Welcome :) I'm in a very similar situation ...26, almost 27, overweight (250 lbs., goal 188?), and want to start trying for a baby this summer and don't want to feel even more miserable! I think we could totally motivate eachother along the way! You're in the right place. Good luck :)
