ok.. so i have been doing great .counting calories. exercising 6 days a week doing hard cardio(well fo me)an hour a day. i sweat and my hoodie is nice and soaked with sweat when i leave. I eat all my calories every day. I have lossed ten pounds so far since 9/26. But this whole last week i weighed myself and actually gained 4 pounds. This am i weighed and i lossed the three pounds. What am i doing wrong? i drink plenty of water. i only have one cane of diet coke a day. i eat my veggies and fruits? wtf!!! help!!
This is what is known as the terrible "scale fluctuations." No one really knows why it happens. But, if you have already lost 10 lbs and you aren't cheating, then stick with it!
i am so not cheating is why i am puzzled. i am so loyal and eating 1330 a day for calories. the machines say i am burning 350 at one and 320 on the other for my hour total.which is total burned 670.
We started on the same day Were you on your period? Did your water intake increase/decrease? I'd suggest continuing anything for at least 21 days (even with no weight changes) just to make sure it's not just a normal fluctuation... If you stay on plan for... 21 days or a month and nothing changed (body fat, weight, etc) then consider changing your exercise routine and or your food.
I was stressing out because over the period of... 10 days or so, my scale almost didn't move... Then it actually went up and then down about 0.2lbs... I actually got very annoyed and boycotted the scale for a few days. Then all of a sudden, in the space of 24 hours, I lost more than 3 pounds. Of course this wasn't the work of 24 hours, it was my body just moving along.
For me, it seems like when I eat processed foods (ie vita tops, 100 calorie packs, frozen meals, soda, etc) the scale doesn't budge. It may be from the sodium, sugar subs, or some other random reason.
My scale fluctuates all the time but is steadily going down in the big picture, dont worry about it and keep going!! I have a 2 lb gain almost every weekend but it's back off by Wed.

THIS^^ I am so glad I joined this forum. I know know not to stress myself out over wonky scale numbers. If I am eating on plan, I will lose weight.
I am fluctuating a lot too. I was up to 222 (?!?!?!?!?) over the weekend, and this morning I was at 215.4. I had an overabundance of processed food and soda (coke zero ) . I think for me it was too much sodium. I know you're calorie counting, but maybe try to do a food journal, and monitor your weight along with that. When you see an increase, review what you ate, and try to make adjustments accordingly.
I also fluctuate daily - I attribute it to water retention, either hormonally based or caused by exercise/not enough water. I haven't been drinking enough water, so I think that really contributes to these wild fluctuations. I can be up 3 or 4 a day, then down 3 or 4 a few days later. As long as the general trend (ie over 2 weeks or so) is down, you're doing fine. Don't sweat it if you're doing what you're supposed to!
I'm right there with you. Myself? I am tonight a whiny crybaby. Been there done that; isn't the first time, won't be the last. I hate my poor attitude tonight. For 3 weeks, the same; today, a .6 gain, and if truth be told, I'm doing good calorie wise. I am embracing "a calorie is a calorie is a calorie" but in practice it doesn't seem so for me. Although this could be hormones as TOM is due to arrive but didn't come last month and could skip this month too. I guess I just felt in better control when I was restricting the calories and making healthier choices (for instance, an apple, not a 160 calorie caramel apple with nuts--that I allowed for). Its a bump in the road.
You should stick with it, as should I, and it will work out. I really do know that...just right now I'm having a hard time myself believing it.
Hang there. I have been doing this since Jan. And let me tell you i have stopped fretting over the scale. I just keep plugging along on plan and my weight does its own thing. I have went up and down. But in the end i have lost 86 pounds.
Sounds like you are doing the right things, keep up the good work, it will happen.

mpaynter - I would also say don't panic and don't give up! yeah sometimes the processed foods will make us retain water. It's good that you're having your water, your veggies, and keeping to your calories, AND working out! You've lost 10 pounds in a month which is GREAT!!!
