Calorie Counting iPhone Apps

  • Hi everyone. I've decided that for my weight loss plan, I am going to pursue a calorie counting/reduced carb diet. I definitely know that I need to be vigilant with this in order for it to work! I think it's best to use an app on my phone since it will ALWAYS be with me, and I won't have any excuses for not keeping track of things. Do any of you use iphone apps for calorie/exercise monitoring? I plan on getting an iphone this week, and I want to know which is the best.

    Thanks in advance!
  • I don't know which is best but I use Mynetdiary for my needs. I also have an ipod touch though.
  • Thanks! I will look into it. I thought it would be best to have it on my phone so I can record things when I am out or away from my computer, so I don't forget/conveniently leave anything out.
  • I like Lose it. You can add friends and you can keep tabs on each other for support. I used to have the fitday app, but I like the features of Lose it much better.
  • I use Myfitnesspal on my blackberry. I understand it also has an iphone app. I can track food, exercise, and weekly weigh ins on there. LOVE it!
  • Thanks, LisaLou and Zenor. Myfitnesspal sounds like what I'm looking for! I will definitely check it out.
  • I use Myfitnesspal and I love it. My favorite thing about the app is that I can scan the barcode and the item and nutritional facts pull up.
  • I use Lose It! as well and really like it. I think a number of them are free so you could try a few to see which you prefer.
  • my fitness pal is great-- there's a bunch of us on there so its really cool because you can encourage eachother while tracking everything-- food, water, exercise. it makes me feel less alone.
  • I also use lose it... it's easy to use, and kind of fun (colorful pictures next to the food items =P) and the companion web page is very comprehensive and not cluttered with ads <--- it's the little things that add up
  • Great suggestions! I have reserved my iphone 4s for Friday, which I am super excited for since it's my first iphone. And I am really going to use it as a tool to keep me on track.
  • I use noom which is easy and fast to use. It's not intricate but it keeps your goal on track and the user becomes more aware of the calories they're eating.
  • I just started using Lose it! and it works really well c:. I really like the option to 'scan' the bar code of the product.
  • SPARKPEOPLE is Amazing, I love it!!!!!! and it's FREE!!!!!!!!!! My trainer just raved about it and since I've been using it I've told every person I know to get it!!!! Try it out!!
  • I have used and tried them all. myfitnesspal is by far the best iPhone and offers the most complete list of foods and is the easiest/fastest to use. I love the bar code scanner and how it has even the weirdest things I wouldn't except. It is also the nicest looking (to me) - being a web designer this is important to me lol.

In terms of websites, I prefer mydailyplate.com.
