Chicken Doner Kebab

I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea of how many cals are in a chicken doner kebab. Chicken, veges, pita, chili, yoghurt galic sauce - it seems healthy but everything I look at says 1000+ cals:?: But I don't know if that is because they are having cheese and fat sauces, or if it because there is a whole lot of hidden fat that I'm not seeing (I know the chicken isn't that great). I just can't see this being more cals than a double whopper burger with cheese!

I heard the same, alot of calories. The sauce, mainly the garlic mayonaise, and also theres like 150-200 in the pitta bread alone, I checked the packaging on one alone and it was like 170 kCal. Also Donor meat may not be the most lean meat so this has extra calories.

Sorry but they are gorgeous, I really cant say no to them at all!!! I want one now..

the pita, amount of chicken and garlic sauce add up to alot of calories. 1000 plus calories doesnt surprise me at all for it

I usually have a chicken or lamb shish kebab without the yogurt sauce. Shish kebabs are healthier because the fat drips out of the meat.

Ah well, guess it just means I use it as a treat instead of eating one every weekend like I have been doing -LOL-

I have eaten them once a week for at least the last 18 months (and have lost 180 pounds), anyway im in australia so may be slightly different but the australian biggest loser website puts them at 520 calories which is what I count them as.

I had to google what these guys are! I had never heard of them until I saw this thread! They seem pretty tasty. I'm thinking that it seems like it depends on what is put in them that determines the calorie content. If you make them at home, choosing a low cal pita and less cheese with more veggies could help?
The yogurt sauce sounds yummy.
So what exactly goes into making one of these guys? I'd love to make one at home!

Thanks so much scottiemama!

As a side note ours dont have cheese in them so that may be part of the difference :)
