Feeling gross today after last night....

Last night my husband and I had a long awaited date night with no kiddies... we were going to Applebee's since we had gift cards. We checked online and picked out somewhat healthy meals... I was getting the shrimp and rice (370 cals) and as a treat we would split chips and salsa after (500 cals per person). Also I planned on having three drinks. In preparation I only ate about 300 cals all day, which is pretty easy for me since I tend to get hungriest at night.

So we got there and all it took for our plan to go to crap was the waiter saying, "If you order two margaritas, you get an appetizer for free." For some reason we couldn't pass up the stupid deal, so we got the drinks (which are gross, mostly salty mix) and the NACHOS for the app.... we scarfed them down and then got regular meals, figuring there was no point in getting healthy meals after that. I got the sliders and fries, could only fit one slider and a few fries before I felt sick. I was literally fantasizing about the broccoli and shrimp and how I would never have felt so gross after if that had been my meal. My husband could only eat a few bites of his pasta too. I had my two more drinks (vodka and diet this time) and we left feeling bloated and yucky.

Usually after an indulgence I feel bad, but at the time it's delicious and fun... this time I felt like crap the whole way through. I woke up today feeling sick and wanting to go back to eating healtier immediately. I'm throwing away our leftovers even though it's hard for me to waste.

Anyway, thought I'd share. I feel disappointed in myself, but at the same time excited that I didn't enjoy the food and that it didn't lead to days of binges. :) I'm having shrimp kabobs tonight!

Don't be too disappointed...it sounds like you are right back on track and this outing didn't derail your efforts...if anything, it made you realize that your "healthier" taste buds will win the next time around! :)

:D Congrats on getting right back on plan! My hubby and I ate out last night too - I felt guilty through the meal, and not too good about it this morning still. But... It is a new day - back on plan and hoping not to go overboard again next time we are out :)

Yep, that's the key back on plan. It's okay to indulge, okay... so it wasn't a planned indulgence but you got right back on the horse. This is a "trick" that has always helped me get over the guilt feeling that may wash over me and sabotage me. When I overindulge I tell myself I will not eat until my stomach growls, then I know for a fact it "needs" food again. That way I know that my body has used everything I indulged in. It just lets me forgive myself and lets me move on. And you're doing fabulous :-)

I just want to tell you that I think it was awesome that you put time into planning healthy choices.....that says that you're on the right track with your thinking/planning and that is GREAT!!!! Don't be too hard on yourself....

Thanks so much for the responses! I haven't binged since then, going on five days which is a long time for me! It was sooo hard b/c yesterday we had a bday party for my son at a bounce place- there was pizza, chicken fingers and soft pretzels. Plus cupcakes that I made and didn't touch! We brought all the leftover food home and I've been good about not eating it (well I've had one chicken finger, one slice of pizza and a few pretzels, but stayed within my cals).

Tomorrow is a barbecue for the 4th (I'm making my famous taco dip and NOT eating any), then Tues ANOTHER pizza party for my son, then next weekend is hubby's bday! If I get through this week without binging I'll be amazed, lol!! In the past I probably would have given myself a free pass for the whole week.

Kudos to everyone else for getting right back on track after a slip up.... it took me 5 days to get back to my previous weight after my binge, but hey at least I'm back and haven't spent the week piling on a few pounds or more! :)

We can do this!! :carrot::carrot:

Good luck on getting through this week! Sometimes, I hate having functions and such b/c I know it's going to be a challenge to "be good".
