I find weighing in around my TOM is futile because the numbers go batty. For example, typically during the week of my TOM the scale will show me losing almost a pound a day after a 'spike' of 5 lbs or more the day before I start. You might find it helpful to either skip your weigh in that week or do a weigh in every other week instead of every week.
I do agree though that having some sort of regular weigh in keeps me honest and accountable because the scales don't make excuses. I used to try and do the daily weigh in threads, but because I'm only aiming to lose a pound a week it would make me crazy to see a .1 gain one morning or no change at all even when I really did well and stayed on plan.
