Help! How Do I Count Calories??

:?: Okay, let me stop you here...before you tell me to look on the side of the package and add...lol...I have a very specific question. I'm a newbie here so PLEASE bear with me :^:.

I have been researching calorie counting for a month now and I am confused. I read that PROTEIN, CARBS and FAT contain 9 calories per gram. Is this in addition to the CALORIE COUNT on the top line OR is this included. For example:

Naked Juice (Berry Blast)

130 calories per serving (2 servings in a bottle)
Fat 0
Carbs 29
Protein 1

Would the total calorie count for the ENTIRE bottle be: 530??
(29 x 9(Carbs) = (261)
(1 x 9(protein) = (9)
130 + 130 (2 servings) = (260)

261 + 260 + 9 = 530

Oh god....please help! :dizzy:

The calorie count listed at the top of the label is the ENTIRE count for everything. The other nutritional facts just give you a breakdown of the calories distributed. Hope this helps!

Well, it's the entire count for one serving. Since this bottle contains two servings, the total for the whole bottle is 260. Also, fat has 9 calories per gram, but carbs and protein have only 4 calories per gram. Alcohol has 7 calories per gram.

tiredoffat, just a suggestion, I love using my daily plate on livestrong.com, it takes the guess work out of everything. It has a *huge* database of food items, if you just type in what you ate it almost always already has it and all you have to do is select it. You can also put your info in for bmi, goal weight, etc and it will put how many carbs, protein, etc it recommends for you. It's a really great, free site started by Lance Armstrong foundation :)
