Snacking ideas?

I was wondering if there is a list of healthy snack ideas here? I'm sorry if there is and I've overlooked it:o If not, any suggestions? I'm a snacker and I really need some healthy alternatives. Thanks :)

What kinds of foods are you eating now? What kinds of foods do you like? Any restrictions?

Low cal snack ideas:

Cheese stick (50-60 calories for light)
Laughing cow cheese (35 cal per wedge)
Skinny cow truffle bars (french vanilla are my fave! 100 cal)
Air popped popcorn (4 tbsp = 173 calories -- makes a decent sized bowl)
Oatmeal (100-150 calories)
FiberOne Oats & Chocolate bar (140 cal)
Clementines (35 cal)
Yogurt (80-100 cal)
Cinnamon Burst Cheerios (110 cal per cup + 1/3 c skim milk = 140 cal total)

To give another perspective, have you ever thought about not being a snacker?

I ask because eliminating all but necessary snacks is one of the things that helped me lose weight the most. I'm NOT saying snacking is bad, not at all! But for me it messed up my hunger cues and led to continual attacks of the munchies, which led to binging. Eliminating snacks, and eating in response to hunger (instead of boredom, emotions, or habit) was HUGE for me in weight loss.

My snacks now are:
- raw veggies in the morning (if I need them, which I do two mornings a week when breakfast isat 6:30 and lunch is at 12:30)
- Greek yogurt, beef jerky, fruit, or small snack bar in the afternoon (needed to get me from work to gym to home, when I eat dinner)

Some people do well with snacks and mini-meals, and maybe that's you. But consider also that you might feel more satisfied and less inclined to overeat if you have 3 regular meals and one/two small snacks (if needed because of hunger) during the day.

Different people find that different types of snacks work for them. Some people want a little protein in their snacks, some a little fat, some a little fiber - some find that unless they have all 3 in the snack, they'll be back for more in no time.

I always leave room for planned snacks because I enjoy eating, so I find it a pleasant break in my day. :dizzy: I tend to like the protein/fat/fiber triple-whammy, but I don't always need all three in one snack. Here are some of my favorite choices:

* Apple + a little bit of a low-calorie cheese (my favorite choice is the middle eastern cheese Nabulsi, a brined fresh cheese at 80 calories/ounce)

* a boiled egg, sometimes with a handful of fresh baby spinach leaves

* Greek yogurt (strained yogurt very high in protein) - I tend to save this for dessert a couple nights a week, but it could make a good snack too.

* Banana; clementines (or mandarin oranges); kiwi fruit

* Popcorn. I make this two different ways. At work, I keep unpopped kernels and brown paper bags in my office. 2-3 of tablespoons of popcorn in the bag, fold over the top, and microwave for 2 minutes = instant no-fat-added homemade microwave popcorn, a nice little serving at about 100-120 calories.

At home on weekends, if I have a few more calories to spare, I actually pop corn the old fashioned way on the stove with a teaspoon or two of oil. It's absolutely delicious and only adds 40-80 calories to the popcorn. (I actually tend to use a tablespoon of oil to 1/4 c. of kernels, and split the results with my partner, for about a 200 calorie snack for me).
