Taking it one day at a time...

  • I've been *reallllllly* struggling the last few months, and the last 3.5 weeks I've been crazy binging. I've gained nearly 9 pounds back. I've been digging deep down inside to figure out WHAT is causing me to eat like this...

We've been having contractors here working on the basement. I always get super stressed during home renovations. Also, my treadmill is in the basement so I haven't been able to run since they started AND I don't really dig doing videos and haven't been able to run outside b/c I'm a SAHM with a DH who works long hours. Finally, even though we have the money to finish the basement, writing any large checks stresses me out.

So, I think it's a combination of the 3. Even though I'm pretty certain that's what's been going on, I haven't been able to fight the urges to binge. Today is day 1 of being binge free. I *think* I've dug deep enough to find what it is I need to get off this merry-go-round of losing/gaining the same 5-9 pounds.

I'll tell ya what, though. I got rid of my "fat" clothes a couple months back and now that my new size 16 capris are snug and I can only *just* fit into them has been an enormous help. That stressing about money is definitely making me not want to have to go spend more on bigger clothes!

Oh! And I've been working in the yard to burn some calories. We bought a house last year with an insane amount of landscaping and there's sooooooooooooooo much to do out there!
  • Donno what part of the world your in...but hopefully the weather is as nice for you as it is for me! I find that nice weather enhances my mood and makes me want to be more active outdoors. Also, some foods "trigger" cravings. I recently had a bout with some cashews...it made me crazy hungry....so this week..NO CASHEWS!

    In any event... BACK!!!
  • I have binge issues as well, still thinking on how to deal with them, and I also came to the conclusion that taking it one day at a time might be the best option.

I guess when it comes to things that trigger binge, useful thing might be to try to shift perspective. Instead of allowing myself to keep stressing I try to shift the perspective so that what is perceived as obstacle is being perceived as opportunity for a change in usual schedule, or to mix things up a little. I'm still working on implementing this.
  • The Chicks in Control forum is a good place to check out if you haven't already. Lots of discussions on controlling binges.

I know workout videos aren't your thing, but maybe just pop one in for the couple of weeks the guys are still working on your basement. Just to keep moving.
  • I am wondering if you are restricting too much on some days and then getting a rebound because you feel deprived?
