Hi & Journal Question

Hello!

I'm new to this end of 3FC and posted my intro in the stickies section. I spent a lot of time in the Ideal Protein section of 3FC and met my original weight goal with that plan. Well, I gained 10 lbs back in maintenance and want to re-lose that plus at least 5 more with calorie counting and exercise. I've been doing a lot of reading and have already gotten some great tips from previous posts!

I haven't mastered the search function of this website yet, so I apologize if this topic has been covered before, but my question is about online food journals/exercise journals/calorie counters. Do any of you use a website for these things, such as fitday, sparkpeople, etc.? I've been looking at some sites and am not sure what the benefits are from one site to another over each other. Or do you just go old school and write it in a notebook?

Thanks and I look forward to "getting to know" you guys!

I use livestrong.com. I like pretty much everything about it except for how they changed figuring out what the daily calorie allotment. One day could have over 1550 calories, the next less than 1150. So I now put in my own calorie goals determined for several online calculators and sort of averaged. But I think their database is very good, I like the ability to add my own recipes (I don't share my recipes with other users but it works really well for me cause I label all my recipes with my initials first, very easy to find later), love the water tracker function. I think their exercise database is lacking slightly (they only have one elliptical amount ) but overall pretty good. Anyways, I've been using it for over 18 months now and have been very happy with it.

Best of luck to you and welcome Katie! :welcome3:

I use myfitness pal.com (all one word) and swear by it. They also have a great support community. I

I use my IPhone and the app there but I enter most calories and I really like NutritionData from SELF and seems to be pretty accurate. Also most of products I buy have nutritional labels except fruits and veggies so I use that.

I just use Microsoft Word and jot it all down daily. It's easiest for me.

I use Fitday - the personal copy, not the online one.

I just use a small spiral journal. It just appeals to me more. But I am also a person who prefers a real book to a kindle (although I own one).

I'm sure any type of journaling works, just as long as you do it. I took a break from journaling and my weight loss stopped. Now I am back to journaling and am beginning to see the scale move again .

I write everything down in a journal. this seems to help me big time.

Thanks everyone!

I'll probably do a combination of a website and a paper journal I carry with me. It's already working too - I almost had a piece of candy, but thought, "I don't want that in my journal!"
