Quick Question

I know that people who do watch watchers have extra points for the week that they can use on whatever.

Do any of you calorie counter add up your total allotted calories for the week and use any extra ones on the "junk" off?

Like I eat 1700 a day so 1700x7 =11900
so if I eat 1400 one day I can eat 2000 the next day.

I don't do this but I used to weight watchers and it made me think

This is sorta what im doing. Calorie counting version of ww. I alot the weekly calories. in my case 8400, 1200 daily. Yea if im low one day then I can use them any other day. But if I go over my daily the I need to be lower some time during the week. This feels a little more freeing then trying to stay exact each day.

Now Im trying to figure out if by chance I have any left over after the week is done, to drop them i lost them or save them for a cheat day down the road. Well see.

That was kinda my thinking. Like if I really want to have that junk off I will just have to eat less a different day.

Lots of people do this. Look for references to "calorie cycling". Fitday (and I assume the other on line trackers) will track your weekly average. I find this a very useful piece of information.

That said, and speaking as one who has been there, starving yourself for 6 days and then binging for one is not healthy eating: instead of reshaping your eating habits and learning new ways to deal with food, you just white-knuckle it from binge to binge, and eventually your will power collapses and it's binges all the time.

So calorie cycling a few hundred calories is fine. Going 900-900-900-900-4000-900-900 is probably a bad idea.

I have tried WW a few times and hated trying to figure out points for everything. I did the free trial at the beginning of the year to see the changes. some WW people figured a point was worth 45 calories. So I decide to do my points in calorie form. Much easier for me.

I am not adding in the extra weekly points. I guess I could but I want to get this extra weight off as fast as I can lol.

I am in weight watchers and points do not carry over. What you are refering to is bonus points that can be used throughout the week. Usually it is around 25 points a week so in addition to the 1600 cal a day you would get about 3000 extra calories a week to spread throughout the week. So no you do not eat the points the next day if you did not use them the day before.
But it is best to find what works for you. If you are losing weight with carrying the calories over from the day before then do it. Hope this helped

So really you could just eat more calories everyday?

surfnmom 01-22-2011 09:24 PM

Well I am not following WW, But I am using some of there basics from the new pp program.

I have 8400 calories a week. then I break it down to an average daily for my week. Now this is me and how i do it. If I have a low cal day then I can use the calories anytime during the week for a higher day.

Yes like calorie cycling, or zig zag think that another name for it. I have 1200 daily, but say im not really hungry and eat say 1100, well for me I will use the extras some time during the week if I need to.

This works for me. You can stick with your daily amount calories. Thats the great think about calorie counting, finding what works for you. If you get a chance read all the past posts lot of usefull info

@Tamara Yes you can eat more calories each day as long as you only eat around 3000 cal more a week. But you can't use calories or points from the day before. And on wait watchers you are encouraged to use every single of the points you are given each day. So you really would not have any points left over if you are following WW plan.
