What do you do for a slow day?

I'm just wondering, if you super calorie counters have a slow day do you eat less calories or stick to your number?

I have been loosing well on 1500. I have never strictly counted calories, so I'm still playing with it and finding what will work best for me. Today is my one day off and I haven't done much but prepare some meals, a little laundry and lounge on the couch. 1st day of the rag so I really feel like crap. SHould I cut the cals down today, or eat my usual?

I would eat the usual. It wouldn't hurt to have a day to let your body recover, especially around tom. As long as you don't do it too often, it will be fine.

Yep, I eat my usual.

You should be satisfied (not stuffed) on the amount of calories you eat. Therefore, there should be no need to take a "day off".:)

Just to clarify what you mean by a "slow day," are you talking about a low activity day where you aren't as hungry?

If that's the case, I don't see any particular reason to eat just for eating's sake. If you're truly worried about getting all your calories in, then you could eat more calorie dense foods (as opposed to eating more volume). Avocados, nut butter, starchier veg/carbs . . . these might be good choices if that's what you're going for.

Personally, if there's a day I'm not as hungry, I just don't eat as much. I'm trying to work on eating when I'm hungry (an internal cue), instead of external cues like time or place or social pressure.

Also, this is how some people evolve into calorie cycling. Some people naturally fall into a rhythm of higher hunger/calorie days interspersed with lower hunger/calorie days.

On my work days when I do exercise. I eat around 1800 (sometimes even more) On my days off but when I do exercise. Around 1500-1600. And the days that I am off and also taking a day off working out. I try to stay between 1300-1400.

You meant a day off work, right? Not off plan?

BigBlueStar 01-24-2011 12:58 AM

Ok, thanks for the wise words guys. I did mean day off work, and I rarely get be so loungey so I do let myself enjoy a day like that if I can, since it doesn't happen often. Sometimes you just need it right? :^:

Intuitively I did as JenMusic mentioned, didn't effect my loss for the week at all so I was pleased.
