A good recipe calorie calculator

  • I am needing to find a good "something" website, software, "something" that will help me calculate the calories that are in entire recipes, like casseroles and such.

    Does anyone know of one?

    Thanks!
  • I use this:

    http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php

I use that every once in a while when I'm really at a loss, but for the most part I just make my portions super small and skip bread or potatoes, etc.
  • I've used the caloriecount one above, but it seemed like it often didn't recognize what I was entering. So now I use SparkRecipes. You select your ingredients from a list, tell it how many servings and it spits out the numbers. Sometimes it doesn't have an exact ingredient but in general I have found it to be REALLY useful!

I think if you are a member you can save your recipes, but I'm not a member.
  • I use the Daily Plate Recipe calculator. You enter all your ingredients then put how many servings entire recipe makes and it saves it in case you need to use it again! You can also adjust the servings. Like if its supposed to make 6 servings but me and my hubby only make it 4 servings (lol) I can just go in, edit the recipe and my calories adjust!

    oh and its FREE!

This is the one I use, and I love it.
  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I was fixing to spend a small chunk of change for a piece of software, now I don't have to!

    Thanks again!

  • Sparkpeople's calculator seems to have the best database. I have tried several and I find this one to be the fastest by far. Just remember that if you don't find your exact food, click the option to search custom entries. Most likely someone has entered that food before. I very rarely have to add my own custom food.
  • I use the calorie count one as well..
  • spark people. After a year, I have a very extensive data base of custom foods and rarely need to use it now.
  • I was using Calorie Count one but I tried out the Sparkpeople one and it's GREAT! I'm really impressed.
