Question Quick question.

There's no problem, but I just had a question out of curiosity.

Since I weigh every day, and record that weight into livestrong.com, it changes my calorie limit every day. I never actually eat the same amount of calories (I never do anyway, sometimes I'm under, occasionally I'm over). It might be really close, but it's never the same. I was wondering, is that actually calorie cycling, or should I just stop it? I mean so far I'm still losing and it doesn't seem to be messing with anything, but it seemed weird to me. I know hardly anyone eats THE SAME AMOUNT EVERY SINGLE DAY, but like today my calories are at 1,472 whereas yesterday they were in the 1460s (I weighed in heavier today than yesterday.)

Is this a good idea, to sort of keep my body guessing, or am I doing damage I won't notice until I'm farther in?

Thoughts?

That's all!

I wouldn't consider that calorie cycling. I'm doing cycling and my high is 1750 and my low is 1250. A 12 calorie difference is nothing. I never eat exactly the amount I'm allowed for a day, I usually get within 20, but I never eat the exact amount.

The difference in the calories there is so small that I wouldn't consider that calorie cycling. ^^
I don't think you should stop, I mean if it's working for you and you feel fine on that plan, then great. I don't see how any damage could be done.

I personally have been shooting for a range within several hundred calories (1,200 to 1,550) and I wouldn't even consider what I'm doing with that calorie cycling... it just sort of naturally happens that way. Even when I lost the weight that got me to where I am now, I was more strict within a range between 1,200 to 1,300 or so and my days would always jump around within that range, where one day I'd barely be getting the 1,200 and the next, go over a bit into 1,350. I never noticed any adverse effects or anything.

What is the benefit of Calorie Cycling? Sorry.. I am just trying to learn all I can. Is it something you worked into, or did you start off immediately with it?
Thanks

It's where you eat a different amount of calories each day to try to keep your body from getting used to a low amount and possibly boasting your metabolism. I heard about it and it kind of made sense to me because of my personal experience with weight loss. When I'd start a diet in the past I'd have a good loss the first week, then the next 2 or 3 weeks I'd only lose like a pound each week. Then I'd get frustrated and end up going out and getting fast food or something, and that week I'd end up losing like 3lbs.

I started my plan almost a month ago, the first week I lost 5lbs. The second week I started calorie cycling and I lost 2.8, the third week I lost 1.6 (TOM so I could have even been retaining some water), I weighin on Fridays so I'll have a new number in two days. So far it's working out well for me.

I also like it because when I was just plain eating about 1350 calories after a few days I'd feel really hungry. Now I get more calories every other day and my calories average out to just under 1400 a day.

Hmm all right, sounds like you guys know what you're talking about. I didn't think it was drastic enough to be calorie cycling either, but just thought I'd ask!
