Ugh. Did I break my food scale?

  • This morning, when I went to use my food scale (a basic Taylor digital scale) the display was blinking and wouldn't work. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back in, but that didn't help.

I've only had the scale since March or so. I looked up info in the instruction book, but it's not the low battery signal, or any other troubleshooting problem mentioned.

Should I get a new battery first, or do you think I screwed up the scale and will need a new one? I moved to a new place over the weekend and just put the scale on top of some other kitchen items in a box, I didn't take any special precautions. It bums me out to think I broke my scale. And it FREAKS me out to think that I don't have one right now - I'm pretty dependent on that thing at this point!
  • I was in great distress the one time my mischievous little dog not only knocked my Taylor foodscale off the table but decided to pee on it as well. >_< So, I know how you feel about suddenly not having one.. this reminds me, it's been many months since I've had one. I should get a new one soon.

That particular scale was a replacement for another Taylor scale that I'm pretty sure bit the dust in the same fashion as yours: worked one day, blinking display of doom the next. It never worked again after that, and I figured that getting it repaired would likely cost more than the actual scale was worth(if I could even get it repaired at all) so I just bought a new one.

Sorry to hear about your scale though. Time to break out the measuring cups again for a little while.
  • I broke down and bought another scale today. I wish I didn't have to spend the $$, but I don't regret it if I'm this close to goal!
