Daily Calories Need Input

  • Hello,

I am a month on tracking calories, but don't know how much calories needed for a 450 Lbs woman. I try on a 2000, but am going over ,way over to 6 or 8000 calories. I tried freedieting calories input which states for my age, weight and exercise level that I must eat 3600 calories a day. Is that possible on losing a steady weight??

I am struggling on using a target calories to go by and its mind boggling. I want to lose weight ,but confuse on the daily calories needed for my weight.

Can someone shed some light on this..I get discouraged and don't want to give up.. Thank you.
  • Yes, that does make sense. The heavier you are, the more calories your bodies need to maintain. Your deficit should be between 500-1000 calories a day. Are you doing it "manually," or are you using a website? I had quite a bit of success using Dailyplate.com, which helps you keep track of what you're eating, how much your eating, how you're doing in regards to meeting your goal.

    Good luck!
  • Thank you Butterfly.. I keep a food journal with a notebook.
  • Do you eat 6,000-8,000 on a normal day?

What I did was track what I was eating for awhile. I just ate normally, whatever I felt like eating, and wrote it down. I then took what was normal for me and subtracted 500 - 750 calories a day.

I think you should try recording for a week, and then reduce by 500-1000 a day. I wouldn't cut your calories in half (8,000 to 3600 is more than half) but start by cutting more like 1000.

Those websites are only a guide. If you write down what you actually consume to maintain YOUR weight, you will be spot on.
