was exercising but can't do it anymore

I LOVE exercising. I have been working out 6 days a week and calorie counting. I have a special needs child and lately she has been seriously ill. She is not sleeping well which means I get almost no sleep. I also can't really get a nap as she is so uncomfortable I can't leave her for too long.

Anyway my question is I am unable to workout as I am soo tired and I am so worried I will loose whatever muscle I built up. Is is very wrong to take a break from working out and just watch my calories...can I still loose a decent amount of weight? I have 30 lbs left.

I don't think it'll be that bad- I mean if you stopped and never worked out again I'd say yeah you'll lose some of that buildup, but if it's only temporary I think you should be fine as long as you keep your body properly fueled so it'll burn calories at an optimum level.

As a teacher of special needs children, and someone who is trying to lose weight, I say do whatever it takes to make your baby feel better and for you to take care of yourself. I'll be praying for you!
I also agree with Beerab!

Hugs to you. It sounds like it's really hard for you to fit in everything you need to do in a day. One of the things you might consider is doing an exercise video at home. I find that I can do a warmup and a mile of WATP in about the same amount of time it takes to get dressed and go take a walk outdoors. It's been a real timesaver and blessing for me to be able to just fit in that 20 minutes instead of spending the time just getting somewhere to exercise. Just a thought for you to help you through the tough time.

Dont worry about it , continue counting calories and dont wory about the exercise u can get straight back to it as soon as your feeling up to it.

Maybe get some small dumbells when your sitting next to her and do few reps a day and squats. To keep your muscles toned. But dont worr 2 much about it soon as u get back in 2 it things will be okay

Or another option buy one of those body toners belt things that you can put on your abs , and also use it on your arms and legs and tone each area for 5mins a day. u can walk round with them on and do your day to day stuff whilst toaning and burning calories

Hope this helps

I was going to suggest doing whatever you could while you were sitting next to her. Or even dropping and doing a bunch of situps or pushups for 5 mins or something might make you feel better.

Exercise is good for your mind and spirit, too.

Here's an article from the NY Times that backs up what a lot of people around here say: It's 80% food, 20% exercise. Which is to say, don't worry about the exercise. Keeping control of the "calories in" part of the equation will keep you on track.

I hope your daughter gets better soon...
