Artisan whole wheat rolls, I have delish recipes
extra virgin local olive oil wine beer (hand crafted) pasta whole wheat brown rice corn bread from local stone ground corn corn butter kefir, home made from grains, using whole milk Indian food oatmeal and the dried fruit I would put on it. With organic brown sugar and some butter and a splash of whole milk. Geeze. I do not even want to know how much this would add up to. I had this twice a week Italian food Notice a pattern. It wasn't the obvious stuff (cookies, icecream, etc...) that caused my slow weight gain and then kept it on. It was the supposed healthy stuff that I could not eat without gaining. Grains, regardless of their origin, coupled with "good" fats put my weight on. Plus the isle of denial- no weighing, relying on clothes fit, no measuring. Just going by 1 plate rule and food being pure. Never again will I be ignorant. I will always weigh daily and record my food intake. |
almond and peanut butter, whole wheat pasta, olive and sesame oil, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries.... When you see a serving you realize how important having a food scale and measuring spoons and cups is!

I was just thinking this today about bananas. I can eat 2 light string cheeses or a greek yogurt or a cup of soup for about the calories in a large banana. And of course, which is going to keep me full longer? Certainly not the banana.
I find I've pretty much stopped eating them...but I do love them. :( |

[QUOTE=ebenz315;3507867]From the hungry girl website:
Oatmeal is great, but I totally hear you about the serving size. That's why I am ALWAYS looking for ways to bulk it up.QUOTE] Another thing too is to make it overly watery (with water of course) and then thicken it back with a little bit of cornstarch. You still get the sumptuous thick gooey thing going --and LOTS OF IT-- for nottah lottah calories! :) |

Nothing "wrong" with sweet potatoes. They're nutritious and delicious :) However, they're also high carb and higher calorie than other veggie side-dishes... For some people, that combination makes them dangerous :devil:

One thing that I've pretty much stopped buying is nuts. I really like several kinds of nuts, especially cashews, but the serving sizes are so small that they don't really satisfy me, and they're also hard to keep track of. If I buy a 9 ounce can of cashews, it's too much of a pain to try to divide it into 9 servings, so I usually divide into 2 or 3, but then it ends up being calories I wish I used on something else.
My local supermarket stopped carrying Jarlsberg cheese, but I used to like to buy that and snack on it. I'd divide it into 1-oz or 2-oz servings and found that the calories *were* worth it. |
EVERYTHING I HAVE EATEN FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS.
Geez, when I think I could have just had a couple of HoHos and a Coke every day and come out the same .... it makes me want to drive down and strangle a couple of Healthy Florida Orange Juice and Kelloggs Nutritious Cereal corporate executives. |
