I put raw oatmeal (or oat bran or wheat bran) into my cottage cheese, which helps with the weird texture of cottage cheese and basically adds some fiber and complex carbs to a pure protein--together, they are the perfect food.

Oatmeal probably tastes the best out of the three, but, as mentioned above, brans have more fiber/fewer calories, so I use those more.

I have to be honest, Oat bran does have almost twice the fiber of oatmeal, but it just doesnt do it for me like regular old oatmeal does. The calorie difference in a cup is only about 40 calories, so as much as the extra fiber would be nice I cant see myself substituting it for my daily bowl of oatmeal.

I do like the idea of adding a bit into cottage cheese as mentioned though. I might be able to handle that. And for the extra fiber, very definitely worth it.

Having thought about it though..I wonder if the pumpkin thing might not be too awful bad in cottage cheese too. bit of oat bran and a bit of pumpkin. I am not a huge cottage cheese fan, so always looking for ways to make it more palatable to me.

Another oatmeal lover here... Bob's Red Mill Scottish oatmeal, sometimes with a Tbsp of flax, a topped with unsweetened almond milk. Heavenly - tasty, filling, comforting. It's my breakfast 5 days out of 7.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but I grew up eating Cheddar cheese on top of apple pie, so to me it just made sense to do it with oatmeal as well.
Hey, I am all for new and interesting ways to eat cheese!

Love love love oatmeal (that plus a protein shake and I could just about not eat again all day :D). Most days its the breakfast of choice simply for the filling factor.

My recipe as of late has been 1/3 cup oats, 1/2 a granny smith apple, water just to cover the oats and mic it until the water is gone. Sprinkle a little cinnamon and you are left with a apple pie delight without having to add any extra sweeteners.

OH man I wish I could get into oatmeal. I try. I really like the flavour but for some reason it gives me indigestion. And I am not usually an indigestion sufferer. It makes me feel like acid is bubbling up in my throat for a few hours afterwards. Why! It's so frustrating. All these combinations sound so good!

Another oatmeal lover here. I buy the big bag of Coaches oats from Costco but I only eat oatmeal in the winter.

And like some others, I doctor it up with various goodies. I've also been know to have it twice a day. Nothing like a little bowl of oats before you go to bed on a cold winter's eve. Yummy!

I am going to have to try it with pumpkin. I love pumpkin so this sounds really good to me!

I love oatmeal. DH has made it twice a week, either old fashioned or steel cut, for almost 30 yrs of marriage. However, while monitoring my carbs intake the past few months on MY weight loss, I found I don't lose as well and I get hungrier sooner that if I eat a higher protein, higher fat, and lower calorie meal. I do eat oatmeal pancakes, 1/3 cp, on Sunday. But I have noticed I get hungrier sooner then too.

I miss oatmeal and the pumpkin does sound heavenly. I just got the sugar free pumpkin syrup for my coffee and oatmeal pancakes.

I love oatmeal too.

I put a scoop of whey protein powder in it. Keeps me going for a long time. I have to buy the gluten free oats. More expensive, but oh do I love oatmeal.

almond breeze

I use plain microwave oatmeal, add two packs of splenda, lots of cinnamon, some nutmeg, and I substitute unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze (a milk substitute - about 30 cals for 2/3 cup) for water. It makes it much richer... I love it! I'll have to try the pumpkin; I'm a huge pumpkin pie fan :) Sometimes I also nuke the oatmeal with some blueberries in the mix so they burst open while the oatmeal is cooking~

Is it bad the only oatmeal I like is Quaker Oats' Apple Cinnamon? Tons of sugar I know :( But some of the ideas like adding peanut butter or pumpkin do sound interesting enough for me try regular Oatmeal again. I might even go for a healthier version of the oatmeal I eat. I'm thinking maybe fresh chopped apples and a sprinkle of cinnamon?

Another oatmeal lover here, but I usually only eat it in cool weather & at dinnertime. My favorite way to eat oatmeal is with PB & SF maple syrup. So warm & gooey & comforting---reminds me of those old candies, Maple Nut Goodies.
