New Cook Book
Just wanted to share........this weekend I found an amazing new cook book.
"Hungry Girl 200 under 200", it's 200 Recipes each under 200 calories a serving :carrot: There are 12 different cupcake recipes; 21 different breakfast recipes....... well you get the idea! I can't wait to start cooking! Even the DS, said hey that stuff looks pretty darn good mom! (well now, praise from a teen...have to go for it!) :dizzy: Kel |
its my favorite cook book!! i love love love it! I have all 3 of their cook books and they all rook, but 200 under 200 is awsome! enjoy!

I actually have that book. While some people may scoff at some of the junky products she uses in her recipes, (and I'd have to agree with some of that) a lot of the recipes are quite do-able from time to time in my plan. I really like the chunky monkey smoothie (I'm not sure if that's the exact name of it lol but close enough.) What I do is take some of her ideas and then substitute other things for the really yucky processed stuff that I personally don't do lol!
Thanks for reminding me about it! Let us know if you try any good ones! |
Ah that sounds pretty amazing! Though I doubt it's available over here - a question though, if I ordered it online (if that's possible) are a lot of the ingredients stuff that is possibly only available in the US?
|
I just finished making the oooey gooey cinnamon rolls on pg. 36. mmmmmmmm!!!!! And they look just like the photo insert! yay me! They are tastey thats for sure for like 125 calories!
|
Heading over to Amazon right now to look for this! Right now I am just trying to get used to eating 1200 calories a day. Once I get used to it, I will eliminate a lot of "junk."
|
Jenny, that's just wrong unless you made enough for the whole thread..LOL!! :D
I am going to gather up a shopping list and probably do what Julia does, and substitute, but definitely going to be cooking up a storm this wkend! Rainbowstripe, I don't know about that, good question, but you can always look at it since you know what is in your market. I noticed she uses a lot of Fiber One cereal, sugar substitute and "Vita" products (muffin tops/brownies, etc) which I found on line and ordered myself some.:?: Kel |
I have been a fan of HG since 2002. I am so excited to see her finally making cookbooks and vids!

Ok, I'm about to cave and order it off Amazon, but I'm just wondering if there are pictures in the cookbook? I really love cookbooks with pictures...
|
@rainbowstripe: There are a few inserts with pictures on them in the book, but ALL of the pictures (minus the recipes) can be found on this page: http://book.hungry-girl.com/books/2
|
I bought it at Target last night. CAN NOT wait to make some of the stuff!!! I like how so many are single serving recipes.
|
Thanks Julia! I'm still undecided as I read she uses a lot of artificial sweeteners and other ingredients I think I'm unlikely to find in New Zealand - and using substitutes would alter the calorie counts.
I did however find another good looking recipe book while I was on Amazon, this Betty Crocker one of main dishes 300cal or less: http://www.amazon.com/Betty-Crocker-...pr_product_top The reviews make it seem more like my style.. simple and easy cooking with fresh ingredients. |
I just added that to my Amazon Wish List, rainbowstripe! Thanks for sharing. :-)
