My Fresh Start!! Had Enough!!

  • Hiya!

Today is my fresh start of my weight loss journey. I am journaling my way with a low calorie and giving up everything!! I had enough of binging each day and time for me to get my act together.

This morning before eating, checked my sugar level and its 125, slightly high and that is my wake up call as well that my weight is up too.

I know calorie counting works, seen plenty of successors on here and I am in it for the long haul!!!

Am focusing on protein, healthy fats, and carbs(veggie) as my main food staples. I AM READY!!!!
  • Hi,
My hat is off to you and I am wishing you all the best.

I am wondering though if the calorie level you set is too low to stick to. Sometimes a few hundred more calories can make long term success more likely in my experience with my own body anyway.

    Sheridan
  • Yay, congratulations! This is the biggest step, actually starting.
  • Congratulations and good luck!

Although I agree with Sheridan, 1300 might be a little low for you. I would personally suggest maybe you start off at about 1800-2000 and then tweak from there. At your weight I'm sure you'll see big losses even if you eat around 2000! If you start at 1300 now you have no where to go but even lower and you will probably hit a stall earlier.
  • Hi Liliann,
The best of luck to you on your journey.
Mine starts this week too and I am calorie counting too.
Let us know how you get on.
  • I hope you have a wonderful Day 1! Good luck with your new plan! Don't be afraid to adjust it as necessary!
  • Good luck!
  • Congratulations on your decision and determination. And I agree w/ those who recommended a higher calorie count for you (although I'm NOT a calorie counter, so what do I know, right??? ). I think at 1300 calories you'll be very dissatisfied and, as we all know, when you're dissatisfied you're more apt to give up.

Now, I'm not trying to dissuade you from calorie counting...BUT if you change your mind and would like to try South Beach, we have a lot of good folks over on the South Beach forum that will be more than willing to help you out and give you advice. I've been on South Beach for 4 1/2 months now and I've NEVER felt deprived or starved. It's been very easy for me to stick to (not gonna lie, though, those first 2 weeks are a little rough) and I loooooooooove my new way of life. Plus, the 58 pounds gone FOREVER (on SB...13 pounds were before SB) have made it all worth it.

Good luck on your journey. With determination and willpower you can do anything...and you have tons of people here on the site that will support you and push you to succeed!!!
  • Thank you all for the kind wishes!
  • Congrats on your decision! Take it a day at a time! I too got my wake up call when my blood sugars were over 200!!! It was scary. It took almost three weeks to get them in a normal range. I am not at my goal yet, but some mornings my blood sugar is only 90 or 91 - you can do it!!!
  • Have a wonderful Day 1!!!!
