Long story short I lost 63 lbs calorie counting. I stay around 1,000 calories a day because I'm scared to gain but I have felt so weak lately and walking/light lifting feels like work. Has anyone had this problem? I'm having a hard time mentally realizing I need to eat more to just maintain but I need some help and encouragement.
I've been the same way. My calories have been between 1100-1300, but my energy is zapped. I'm training for a sprint triathlon and my workouts burn between 300 and 800 calories, depending on the day. I have found that I feel better when I eat a little more. Every couple days, I'll do a 1400 or so calorie day just to boost my energy. I've always lost weight slowly, and that hasn't changed with the increased calories. You might want to try something smaller, like add a 50-80 calorie snack and see how that does. Also, are you taking any vitamins? That helps me too. Good luck to you!!
punkrprincessa, at 1000 calories a day you are not giving your body enough fuel, which is why you have no energy! I'm not trying to sound preachy or give you a lecture, but it really is dangerous to consume less than 1200 calories a day, even if you are sedentary. If you eat 1300-1500 cals a day you should have no problem maintaining your weight loss and you will definitely have more energy. It may be counterintuitive, but you have to eat more to keep on track.
I agree fully with hdallas78 100%! Think of your body as a well made vehicle. In order for a vehicle to go any where it needs fuel. Now in regards to being well made, think of putting in premium fuel, not just regular fuel into the system. The better the fuel the better the vehicle. Now in a humanistic form, the same applies.. You need to fuel your body, good fuel. This is not just in order to survive on a daily basis, this is also to supply needs your body depends on. Minerals, vitamins, nutrients, etc. are all needed and if you are not getting the proper nutrition nor the proper fuel your body will not only shut down for lack of, but will also go into starvation mode due to not enough fuel. In turn your body will begin to feed off your body... Now some might think good, feed off of it, take this fat away....... Nope, it feeds off of the muscles.
Please consider re-evaluating your "plan" and what it more important.... Your health is and from what I am reading already feeling the strain. The weight will come off eventually. It did not get placed on over night, it surely is not going to come off over night.
I hope this helps as we only share our views and opinions cause we care :-)
