Salt in lunchmeat

I was wondering if any of you that eat turkey (or light) lunchmeat can tell me what you consider is too high in sodium per serving?

I only buy Boar's Head low-sodium lunch meats. They are all too high in sodium to be healthy choice. 95% of the time I bake a turkey breast and slice it for sandwiches.

I buy the rotisseri chicken ready-to-eat at WalMart and use it during the week for my lunch salads. I feel better if I eat a little protein. I have always shied away from luncheon meat. Maybe what I am eating is no better? I just feel like that packaged meat that lasts FOREVER in that package (haha) can't be good for you. Would love any insight from anyone on this.

I buy cheap lunch meat but make sure to just have 1 serving and no more. It has 540mg of sodium. While I believe 100% that eating "clean" or all natural or organic is best, sometimes my budget doesn't allow it. I'm all about buying the healthiest foods for my $. I think it is little steps at a time. If I eat foods higher in sodium during the day I up my water intake. Some may disagree that eating something like cheaper lunch meat is counter productive to dieting, I feel as though making the bigger changes is more important 1st, then one can move down to the little things like lunch meat.

Hormel Natural Choice products are healthier than most and very delicious. One serving of Oven Roasted Deli Turkey has 490 mg. of sodium as compared to Hillshire Farms Oven Roasted Turkey at 730 mg. And the Natural Choice has all-natural ingredients, no artificial flavors or colors, no MSG, and is minimally processed. If I do lunch meat, it's always Natural Choice!
