anyone else?!

is it just me or do you get this to?.. if i wake up at 8am im always hungry an tend to eat most of my cal intake before 3pm by then i havent enough for a proper meal.. but if i have a lazy lie in and stay in bed till 10am im hardly hungry an normally have loads of calories left at the end of the day?!...

grrrkgrrrl 06-22-2010 05:52 AM

i cannot say i have this happen BUT, the days that you wake up at 8, do you have enough sleep? it might not have to do with the time you wake up, but when you go to bed instead--i know being tired makes me hungry, which makes sense---> the body is craving for energy :/

I was just about to post the same thing as grrrkgrrrl. There are lots and lots of studies linking obesity to lack of sleep.

bbg200 06-22-2010 08:03 AM

yeah im a late sleeper dont normally get to sleep till after 12am an i try not to snack after 8pm, theres so much going on in the day time i dont have enough time to do it all so i end up going to bed late.. have to do exercise at 10/11pm just so i can get my daily exercise, but what u guys are saying does make sense :) but not sure how to fix it :?:

amynbebes 06-22-2010 08:44 AM

Yep, same here. If on the ocassion I get to sleep late I'm not hungry until nearly noon. However if it's a week day and I get up at my usual 5am, I'm ravenous by 6:30.

bbg200 06-22-2010 03:09 PM

crazy isnt it!.. i did well today.. got up at 8am did everything i needed, reached 700+cals by 11am eeeek!.. so had a nap around 3pm an was fine till dinner time :)

I know some people do that, I like to save my calories for the evening personally. It's when I would normally go all-out crazy before I started losing so if I have some more calories in the evening I can have a little more. And a snack, too =].

Lack of sleep causes hormonal fluctuations that will make you hungry. Your leptin goes down and your ghrelin goes up and making you crave carbs and never feel satisfied. Bad combo.

Check out: http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders...while-sleeping

and here's a good quote:

Until doctors do know more, most experts agree that if you are dieting, logging in a few extra hours of sleep a week is not a bad idea, particularly if you get six hours of sleep or less a night. You may just discover that you aren't as hungry, or that you have lessened your craving for sugary, calorie-dense foods.

Just happened to me Sunday. I rarely sleep in but when I do my routine is so out of whack that it's easy to eat light.

I am usually the type of person that when my eyeballs open, I'm ready to eat!! I've been doing pretty good about changing that lately because I'm an early riser, so that means I would eat at home, then get to work at 9:00 and be ready to eat again. I have to be awake early (around 5:45) to fix my husband's breakfast and lunch (he works outdoors where he can't get anything during the day) so now I've started walking in the morning, and I just barely have enough time to get back inside, get dressed, and get my kids ready to go where they need to go that day :) I've realized that if I don't eat right away, sometimes when I get to work I'm not even hungry and can go until about 9:30 or 10:00 before I eat! I usually cook a pretty big supper every night (see above, the Hubby doesn't get to eat hot meals during the day) so I try to save a pretty good amount of calories for that meal! So far, it's working great!!

i try and save all my calories for the evening but it dont always work because i have a partner that loves food just as much as me (his a big guy) an when he eats i crave what he has, to the point where i have to go and snack..i know its not hunger but more to do with the taste or could i just been addicted to food/carbs?

candoanything 06-23-2010 08:34 AM

Nope, this doesn't really happen to me, I eat small meals throughout to the day and have a nice size meal at night.

bbg200 06-23-2010 04:51 PM

i think ive mastered it now, (do say think as i dont know how long its going to last!) most mornings i get up at 8am, (due to children an 2 dogs) i have a bad habit of looking at the time to see when i can eat next urgh i know its bad.. BUT.. ive brought tones of fruit and im doing smoothies with them :) when i want to snack i have a mouthful of smoothie and im fine... :) im also staying with in my calorie target an im feeling good already ..
