The dreaded "scale"

Ok I have been calorie counting for a little over a week now. I know everybody says not to weigh every day but I get so obsessed with it. I am not sure I understand why my body fluctuates from day to day. I weighed on Tuesday and then when I weighed on Thursday it was up a pound. Is that normal. Because when I think I am making progress it goes back to the same number. There was no cheating either I stay at 1200 calories for the week. Any thoughts!

Weight fluctuates. Don't stress about it. I weight obsessively. I know that when I weight at night before I go to bed I will be about 2 pounds heavier than I will be the next morning. I know if I eat anything with salt in it I will retain water like a sponge. As long as your long term movement trend is down you are doing fine. Long term being multiple weeks :) Stick with it. You will do great :)

Also... If you are going to weight daily try to do it at the same time every day in the same state of dress. I suggest first thing in the am after you pee and naked. That is your "true weight" I've been told. It's also when you will weight the least.

I'm thinking you should be fine. It's only been a week and you body is probably just adjusting to the new program. Stay with it. Because of the daily fluctuations I don't measure my weight. It works for a lot of people but I get too obsessive. I've been doing well. As I go down in size the weight eventually catches up. But try giving it a few more weeks to see sustained weight loss. Oh and make sure you aren't consuming a lot of salt because it will retain water which reflects in the weight on the scale.

I weigh daily every morning after potty and before anything else whenenver I am home. I want consistent readings to detect trends as early as possible. I like the feedback it provides especially if I have ovulated, TOM, or eaten more calories than usual. I then track these trends to see how my body reacts over time. With various programs, I can then average my values and see this. If I weighed less often, I wouldn't have this data.
