Are you being 100% accurate with your calculations? Were you losing at 1200? What was the reason you upped your calories? What sorts of workouts do you do? What kinda foods do you eat?

I agree with lowering calories. I was eating about 1500-1600 and not losing for over a month even though those were my recommended calories. I lowered my calories to 1200-1400 and the loss began again. I was also eating about 5 lean cuisines each week and cut those out for awhile. Even though they are low cal, the processed food can cause stalls.

Hi Breanna,

I................ am certainly not an expert... and... am having very limited success myself... but... are you certain you're eating enough calories to sustain your weightloss?

I think needed calories has more to do with the activity in your life and your metabolism than what it might say on a chart.

And it does matter what kind of foods you're eating. Are you eating lots of processed foods? Do you shop the periphery of the grocery? Are you eating protein and carbs at every meal? Are you eating regularly (3-5 smallish meals per day)? Are you drinking enough water?

Lots of things to consider.... BUT... please don't give up. Don't give in. Whatever you're doing today is because of all the hard work you put into yesterday. Education is the answer to every question. Learn more about your body today. Try another combination tomorrow. Whatever you do, DON'T quit!

Please let us know how you're doing.

I would like to know what you are eating as well. Why did you up your calories in the first place? I started about where you are but I'm a little shorter and I started at 1200. I upped it to 1483 and that has been working well for me. I drink about 2 liters of water most days. I eat a lot of fruit and veggies. I don't really do processed foods because I want to control my calorie count. No white foods...whole wheat pasta, brown rice, whole wheat sandwich thins and that is limited as well. Even though you are low on calories you want them to be healthy. I sometimes bounce my calories around. I make some type of change every couple weeks so my body doesn't get used to anything...I get bored quickly and easily. Try different things.

Breanna, how long have you been at 1500? I think when you up your cals it may take a little time to adjust and start losing again. Standard disclaimer, I am no expert, but 1200 cals seems low for your weight.

niafabo....I am new here so definitely not an expert but I would think 900 calories is just not enough. I weigh about 12 pounds less than you and I am eating 1700 calories per day

We all learn and tell..............

Please check the salt quantity in your food you are eating. I learned that the hard way. I could not figure out why all of a sudden I was gaining, hmm. had Italian style vegetable progresso soup , which was low in calories 60 calories for 1 cup, well I had 2 cups,it was good ,the next morning I had gained weight!!! What!!!! 2 pounds!!!! Someone told me to check the sodium I was eating well it might of been low in calories but I had a whooping 1380 mg in sodium! I lost that weight after the 2nd day but gave me a wake up call!

It sounds to me like you are eating to few calories. We are close in weight and I started at 1900-2000 daily. When you go too low, your body holds onto weight for dear life.

I know that the most unsuccessful diets I have ever tried were the ones that had me eating too little. They might have caused tremendous water loss in the beginning, but I always ended up plateauing, losing interest, starving, and then eating too much to compensate.

I recommend you peruse the board and look at the people who have been successful and have maintained their weight loss. They have pretty much all eaten reasonably, not eating too little.

I went back to 1200-1300 calories and started losing again. I eat egg whites, turkey bacon, and wheat toast for breakfast. lean cuisine for lunch, a snack (veggies, fruit crisps, anything 100 calories and under) and chicken and veggies for dinner. Im doing great on it. but the minute i go above 1300 i fail. so i guess there is my answer lol. Today was my weigh in and i lost 1.5 in a week. So im good now. I just need to see im losing. i had a little fit because 4th of july was a problem. i over ate and was sick But im back at it and glad i didnt give up. Im pretty sure its the holiday that messed my weight loss up. The dr said to try 1500 calories since 1200 is pretty low but i dont feel like i need to/want to. maybe on sat and sun ill raise it to 1400 but i cannot go to 1600.

as far as excersize i go to the gym 4-5 days a week for atleast an hr a day.
