Okay so I've finished my biggest loser workout DVD and I'm now doing the 30 Day Shred. The thing is, it's only 20 minutes whereas before I was doing 50 plus minutes. The level one is hard, so I don't think I am going to up my minutes for a while, but for the first couple of weeks should I go back down to 1200 calories because of the decrease in exercise? I dunno what to do? I am indeed going to see a slow in weight loss? Yes? No? I'm not sure!
when i was at my weight-loss phase, i personally had a stable intake of calories/day and any excersise i did i counted as extra "win". so i did not plan my calories in accordance to my excersise level.
thus, if i wanted to see the scale go down faster, I tried to add more excersise in my day.
if you're doing the 20mins dvd, why not go for a 30mins walk as well?

I see. I knew that but it was just the thought of less calories burned per day that was getting to me. I think I'll try adding more exercise in somewhere, that's for sure. Thank you, and thank you to ncuneo as well.
This is a good question. Today I did allmost no exercise. It's liek 38 degrees here and I am not leaving the one roon in my houes thathas air conditioning
So, I was wondering about my caloric intake too. I have lessened mine b/c I thought that I should since I did no physical activity today, but what grrrkgrrrl said makes a lot of sense.
I eat within a range on days I exercise and also count exercise as "bonus". I do NOT eat back my calories. However, I've also noticed that if I eat the same number of calories on my "rest day", I always have a gain or stall the next day. So I've started backing off my calories on my "rest day".
When I do a Biggest Loser or Jillian Michaels workout and they are only 25-30 mins I follow up with something like a Leslie Sanson 1 mile walk DVD. Actually most of the workouts I do are free through my cable service (Comcast- OnDemand)/
I think that your metabolism should be faster now, and therefore it may be okay to do 20 minutes and still lose, however, I think 20 is a little too low for weight loss, so do something else as well for 20-30 minutes. Doing something else is also benficial to your body because it confuses it and keeps it guessing which makes your metabolism work harder. But then again, you're also changing it up anyways since you're switching dvds.
So yeah, good luck, I hope you find your solution!
To some extent I adjust because I have to, my exercise load is very large on somedays and to not adjust makes it bad the next day. But for small variations I do not.
I would let your body adjust to the 30DS and then try to add back in your exercise time rather than reduce your food.
One of the things i have found most consistantly is that there is a calorie range I am comfortable eating (~1800-2100). It doesnt matter whether I exercise not at all or for 3 hours - I have to eat that much. Unfortunately for me that level is higher than my exercise free maintenance calories. But if I drop below those calories to something that lets me lose weight (say 1400) I end up binging.
