This sounds good. Which ranch seasoning packet do you use? Hidden Valley?

Yes to the hidden Valley. I've taken to buying it in the big shaker jars cause I use it for so much. Add a little chili powder to the the mix too for a amazing chili ranch sauce. It's really good on grilled fish.

May favorite is also lemon juice (fresh), crushed garlic clove, and a small amount of olive oil.

I don't care for bottled dressings. My favourite is lemon juice and olive oil, salt and pepper or simple seasoned rice vinegar. I often use plain homemade mayonnaise. When I am in the mood, I like homemade blue cheese dressing.

The Wishbone light dressings are pretty good. My favorite is the light italian one (35 calories for 2 tbsp). They also have a fat free one which is only 15 cals for the same serving.

I have found that watering down salad dressing doesn't dilute the taste for me -- it just makes plenty more to spread around. I usually measure 1 tablespoon of dressing, and depending on the type, I cut it with another tbs of water or milk. I've done this with dressings like honey dijon and poppyseed with great success -- the taste is the same, and I actually prefer the thinner, less goop-y consistency. :)

I use hummus and salsa as dressing when I really want some flavor and don't feel like spending the extra calories and fat on something like dressing. Most of the time I use straight balsamic vinegar, sometimes a little olive oil. I absolutely love the dressings by Annie's Naturals though, they are divine, some of the few dressings I make room for in my day's calories.

I've weaned myself off of salad dressing over the years. Now, I prefer only pepper on my salad. A lot of pepper.

Here's a crazy idea only for ppl who really love spicy food. Because I'm an ex smoker with numb taste buds, I love anything spicy. This week I put Sriracha (chile sauce) on my salad. It burned, but I thought it was quite tasty.

My favorite salad dressing is Galeo's ginger wasabi. It tastes rich and creamy but I believe it is 20 calories per serving. Also, I like TonTon's ginger dressing which is 10 calories per serving. Neither of those are 'light' dressings but they happen to be low calorie.

I always uses Kraft Fat Free Italian, 5 calories for 1 TBSP.
But honestly, I am really starting to HATE salad. Think it is time to spice it up and try some of the suggestions in this thread. I also like the idea of making my own. Thanks everyone!

I like Kraft Greek Vinaigrette - only 60 calories for 2 tbsp, but I usually just use one. It seems there are a few different types that Kraft puts out, so make sure you find the low calorie greek one. I also sometimes will use an even lower calorie dressing (e.g. fat-free italian) but then add 1 tsp of grated parmesan cheese for only 10 calories. It adds some nice flavor!

A little bacon salt helps tang it up.

if you like japanese style salad dressings.. galeo's ginger miso wasabi is AMAZING!! so creamy and delicious (they also have a few other flavors too...incl dijonnaise and ceasar. havent tried those tho).. it would still be my favorite even if it wasnt so low cal! its hard to find though.. they sell it at whole foods and a few other stores. their website is www.galeoscafe.com. i hate low cal salad dressings and i am obsessed with this one!!
