I'm a huge calorie hoarder. I usually have 900-1000 calories out of 1300-1400 left for dinner and evening snacking. I usually eat salads for lunch and oatmeal or English muffins for breakfast with a snack that's under 100 calories. I do just fine without eating all day, but at night when I am watching television and sitting online I like to eat a lot. However, I am home all day which makes this considerably easier than if I were working. For some reason when I am working, I can barely get through an hour without growing hungry. And like you, when I am working I feel so disappointed when I don't have many calories left for dinner/after dinner snacking. I've then spent all day feeling unsatisfied and hungry only to come home and eat a dinner that may not satisfy me but then I have no additional calories... the calorie hoarding is just more satisfying for me overall.

I don't hoard for the end of the day - I typically have my big meal at lunchtime. But I totally agree with the mini-meals not working. I am very satisfied with my big lunch salad in a totally different way than if I took those same 750 calories and split them into 3 smaller meals of 250 each.
I'd say do what works - if you feel good and you are losing weight, then it's working!! |
I love to hoard, be it for the evening or for a big weekend. I have a tea party tomorrow and have saved up 500 or so calories to add to my allowance for tomorrow. Not that I plan to go overboad but it'll be great to enjoy some treats without worryingtoo much!
I'm in the minority that absolutely adores breakfast though. It's far and away my favourite meal of the day. It's 320 cals of piping hot oatmeal and some fruit but I jump out of bed every morning because I'm so excited about it! Then I sit in front of the TV watching the news and savouring the bowl for about 20 mins. Same thing every morning but it neer fails to get me going. I love my night time snacks too - I usually have about 500 cals saved up for them. So it's popcorn, a cereal bar, peanut butter, some cut up mixed fruit or a a combination of them. Plus I always work out from around 5-8 and only have my dinner and snacks after - I'm ravenous by then and having 900 or so cals to play with post intense exercise is great and has worked wonderfully for me :) |
I think I hoard¬_¬
I'm not a breakfast person, but I love eating in the evening, so my plan is like this: Breakfast: 100 calories Lunch: 300 calories Dinner: 400 calories Evening snack: 400 I'm full alot of the time because as a veggie, and a veggie-freak, I eat big volumes of veggies and fruit~ And I steer cleer of process foods :D |
