What am I doing wrong? :(

  • I don't think your doing anything wrong...stick with it and the scale will drop! When i first started counting calories it took three weeks before my body adjusted to the new workouts & calories..
  • Maybe you are restricting your calorie intake to much or you are following the wrong diet for your body. I am carbohydrate sensitive so I can do weight watchers and not lose, if I can stick to it at all, Carbohydrates trigger cravings for me, but when I stick with a low carb diet I lost 50# in 12 weeks, got all my blood work back to normal and didn't have to exercise at all. My Dr. recommended low carb diets and I have no doubt that it fits my body's needs.
  • You may well have burned 2 lbs of fat and are retaining 3 lbs of water (which is nothing). Just be patient for 1 or 2 more weeks. If, at the end of 3 full weeks on plan, you haven't lost between 3-6 total pounds, then you reassess.
  • Stay the course and wait it out. A lot of things factor in - water retention, stress, fatigue. If you have had a calorie deficit all week long (ie burning more than consuming) you will see results.

BTW - I had little to no movement on the scale for over a month...keep doing what you are doing and you will have a sudden "whoosh" soon!
  • Take your measurements-chest, waiste, hips, thighs, biceps, calves-just everywhere you can wrap a tape measure around. Keep a journal of all them and measure yourself each week. Sometimes when the scale doesn't move you actually have inches lost.
Here are some links about why weight isn't the best way to tell how you doing.

Keep doing what you're doing and you'll eventually see success.

  • All good advice.

For me, the main thing, is just NOT to give up.

I get so frustrated sometimes. Argh.

    Best wishes to you.
  • Don't give up. What is happening to you is not that rare. Stay with it and you will see a loss. I usually will suddenly see about a 3 pound loss after seeing the scale go up or not moving. We just can't predict what the body will do.
  • Don't give up, your body is probably just adjusting to your new calorie intake as well as your water intake (ecspecially if you generally did not drink that much water before). Maybe add a few mins (about 15-20 to start) of strength training a few times a week and see if that jump starts things a bit. I don't think you're doing anything wrong, it's just going to take a little time for your body to adjust. Also, try doing your weigh-in at the same time every week, I do mine right as I get up, before I eat breakfast. Keep your head up and keep trying sweetpea. You will get there! Good luck!
