Got rid of the scale

I put the scale away. I was getting a bit obsessive. Now, I will weigh in once a week, and that's all. Plus, I noticed my pattern had been: be good dieting all week, weighing constantly, then when I lose weight I eat more, gain the weight back, starting the whole cycle over again the following Monday. We're headed into my first weekend, and I'm curious if my tactic will work. Anyone else do this?

Yes, I only weigh once a week on Friday mornings. I am tempted throughout the week, but I know the scale will dictate my mood and I don't need that added burden.

PLUS I do not weigh the week of my TOM so tomorrow will be my first weigh in for two weeks! I've been pretty OP except for the Saturday before Easter and still I wasn't horrible that day.

I weigh in on my Wii fit, so it's a hassle to get it all set up each time and that helps lessen my temptation to hop on the scale.

No I don't but I NEED to put mine away too. I weigh every morning at 8 am. My sister wanted to meet me early to go somewhere and I told her I can't leave til after 8. I didn't tell her "I can't leave that early cuz I'm nuts and can't leave til I weigh in at 8!" LOL Like I said I NEED to put mine away but just can't...

I have problems with getting off track on the weekends as well. I too am a bit compulsive with the scale, but am not ready to give it up yet. I can relate with the lose a few, then "celebrating", then gaining it back and "feeding my sorrow". It is a huge struggle! I decided for myself to be gentle and look at this as a learning process. I am really journaling good and also writing down what I am eating. Once I can do that for a month without any stops, then I will work on the scale issue! Good luck to you!

I only weigh once a week on Friday's too. I just don't care that much. I want to FEEL healthier, stronger. I want to go hiking with my hubby and ride bikes on the weekend and join archer ternies and not be winded. That's my reason for dieting and working out. And if I happen to lose weight in the process, well, I won't complain. ;)

Sounds like a very healthy decision!! How mind freeing this must be for you!

It's weird. The first day, I stumbled into the bathroom in the morning, and I was thinking, "Where's the scale?" It happened a couple of times that day, and I realized I was weighing in several times a day sometimes, especially when I know the number will be higher than I want. Without the scale, I stayed on plan all week (and I recently reduced my calories as well), exercised everyday (which I usually do anyways), and I know I'm down in weight by looking in the mirror, which I think is so much healthier than using a scale anyways! I might not weigh in for a month!

mmiller2829--Your habits do seem ultra-obsessive, too! Put it away! Go out with your sister whenever. The scale will be there tomorrow, but with people and living things, you never know.
