My first weight loss plateau? :( What did YOU do?

  • I am so discouraged! I have been doing so well, and I am so proud of myself, but my scale has done nothing for 3 weeks now! I was losing so steadliy in the beginning, and now, nothing. I will lose a pound and be excited, then step on the scale the next day and its BACK!

    I've heard SO many people on here say that they 'up their calories' during a time during this, but I am terrified it will back fire on me.

    Has anyone increased their calorie intake to move past a plateau?

    Or, what other things have you done to move past a plateau?

  • I would try zig zagging your calories for a week, go up 200 from your norm, down 200 from your norm and so on. And sometimes I cut my carbs down and up my protein. It really depends on what your diet is like though now.
  • I agree with the zigzagging. Uping my calories has worked for me. Than I go back down to my 1200. There was recently a Woman's World magazine with one of the women from the show The Biggest Loser on the cover. She lost a ton of weight. She eats 1200 calories a day and once a week she eats 2400 calories! She said it keeps her from hitting a plateau. I have never been on a plateau for more than a week. 3 weeks must be very frustrating.
