Thank You Calorie Counters! It worked!

I am too excited for it to be so early on a Saturday morning!

I am down 3.5 pounds for the week after taking your advice and increasing my calorie budget. It seems so counter intuitive but it really did work!

I've had a great couple of days in my weight loss journey. Yesterday I went shopping and bought a pair of jeans without a "W" behind the number for the first time in nearly 15 years! And I didn't even get the biggest size they had available.

Oh happy day! Now I'm less than 15 pounds away from One-derland!!

same for me! the gals on here helped me out and they said that if I increased my calories a bit more I should lose... because maybe I was putting my body through starvation mode?
So i went and splurge for a few days (not completely, but had extra calories and fat here and there) and now after only one day back at it, I've lost a pound!

I'm so glad for you! I love it when people have success doing it this way! We don't have to starve ourselves to lose weight! Not to mention that as your calories drop the slower your metabolism becomes and the harder it is to raise your cals when you hit maitenance. The higher you can keep your cals and lose the better! I'm clinging onto 1650 and zig zagging even if it means increasing my exercise!

I have no trouble losing on 1050 cal. a day. That's my magic weight loss number. When I up the calories to as much as 1200, I gain. I am active, 3 mi. walks everyday. I don't get it, why does it work for you chicks and not me????

Jennifer 3FC 02-27-2010 06:58 PM

Since you weigh 107 right now, that isn't unusual. Do you strength train? Muscle takes up less space and burns more calories, so you may find that you can eat more, gain a bit, but actually get smaller.

Do you mind if I ask why you're trying to lose more? No judgement, just curiosity :) You're on the very edge (or even lower, depending which chart you use) of what's considered a healthy weight for your height, even for a small frame size. I just guessed your age as the same as mine (30), but several calorie calculators give numbers between 1700-1900 cal/day to maintain your current weight... I don't understand how eating 1200 is causing you to gain. I wonder if it's possible your body is trying to tell you it needs to maintain a slightly higher weight? I'm certainly no expert, though, I don't even know if that's a real thing LOL
