What have any of you done to jump start your diet?I thinking seriously about going vegan when I go grocery shopping for next week(isn't that the one where you can eat fish & chicken?)

Sometimes you just have to wait it out. How long has you're weight been at the same spot? I often go a week or two with no loss depending on my period and whatnot.

Also sometimes it takes a few weeks to see changes from your new efforts. Hang in therre I know it's tough not to see progress...I've been at this for over two years (not counting my pregnancy or the gain from that). It just takes time...

Vegan means NO animal products whatsover. No eggs, cheese, milk, leather, etc., etc. There are some "vegetarians" that eat fish (which I personally don't understand, but that's me lol), but I don't know of anyone who eats chicken who would consider herself a vegetarian.

I never understood the difference between the two?I really meant that I want to eat more steamed veggies & salads, less meat.I've already given up fried foods & most of the 'white stuff'.

I've been at the same weight for about 2 weeks.I'm impateint sometimes.

I wouldn't consider 2 weeks an official stall/plateau just yet, especially depending on where you are in your cycle. I tend to stall at ovulation and durning PMS. Are you drinking enough water? Are extra cals creeping in anywhere?

yes beeing a vegan implies you eat NO animals.. or animal byproducts which means you can't eat things like honey, eggs, milk, cheese, anything thing dairy, anything with real Gelatin like jello or jelly.

Vegetatians will eat byproducts but no actual meat or flesh of animals this includes seafood lie kfish and shrimp oysters, etc..

there are pescovegeratians which allow them selfs to eat fish and other animals with out a central nervous system such as clams, shrimp, crab, lobster. etc..

and another type called pollo vegetarians and they allow them self's to eat ppoultry such as chicken, turkey, cornish game hens. etc as well as seafood.

although the above mentioned are labeled as "Types" of vegetarians they are not TRUE vegetarians and FAR from being Vegan.. I am technically a "pollo vegetarian" at the moment only because I am working on truly becoming vegan eventually. I have cut out beef, pork, lamb (which I rarely ate anyways) but still eat poultry and some seafood. I soon hope to cut out poultry and then seafood next!

beliter, you can eat less meat and more veggies, and it'll be great for your health, but you won't be vegetarian or vegan. If you eat Jello or marshmallows, you're not vegetarian, etc. I've never known a true vegan or vegetarian who didn't do it for ethical reasons.

O.K.,I wasn't considering becomeing a vegetarian, just a descriptive phrase about how I felt.I just thought about trying more salads and veggies.Didn't mean for it to be taken so seriously.

Baked potatoes themselves are not bad for you --- they are actually quite healthy. The toppings (butter, cheese, bacon bits, sour cream) make a baked potato bad. I eat them 1-2 times a week!

And just hang in there. I just went through a 3 week plateau and I wasn't losing anything. Then, in the last week I've lost 6 pounds!

I usually just cook a small red potato and sprinkle a little cheese on top... sometimes with a small pat of butter, but usually not.
