Default Girls who love red wine and count calories.

I love red wine and some days I really want to have couple of glasses for dinner or while watching movie by the fireplace…

I count 1 oz of red wine = 25 cal, is that right?

Also , what I notice is when I have TOM and retain water ( I always up to 4-5 lb during that magical time of the month), two glasses of red in the evening does help to reduce water weight by 1-2 lb next morning.

There's a calorie counter here. I believe you need to go to the 3fatchicks home page.
I'm sure this will be very helpful to you.
It has like 7,000 foods listed....Good luck, and enjoy your wine!

I'm more of a hard liquor gal. I do count it carefully; ounces are quite small. Remember, there are 1 1/2 ounces in a shot. If I sally up to the bar and ask for a coupla fingers of whiskey, I am consuming at LEAST 3 ounces, and that's 150 calories. At a minimum.

I'll have to try the wine trick to help with water retention. Whiskey makes me retain. But it's sooooooooo yummy...

Red wine is definitely one of my vices. I die for a good merlot. To my surprise, I have done exceptionally well in controlling that habit since I started this new journey of mine again. Since January 4, I've had but a handful of glasses of wine. It used to be a daily occurence. Le sigh.

What is everyone's thoughts on alcohol lowering the metabolism for a period of time? I think I read this some where. I also like wine. I have only had a couple glasses since November. Before that, it was a couple glasses a week.

Thats exactly why I quit drinking alcohol, it would not only slow down my metabolism it also makes me really hungry. I wont cut it out forever but its impossible for me to lose weight and drink alcohol so I've stopped. Im sure a glass of wine wont hurt but for me a glass of wine turns into 2 and then 3 and soon I have finished the whole bottle by myself and then next I move onto the vodka and munchies and its just a vicious cycle for me. I was only drinking on the weekend but even that would sabotage all the good eating that I did during the week. I haven't drank in 4 weeks and yes I miss it sometimes but Im fine without it and I think my liver and kidneys need a break lol

I have the same problem with alcohol….I am starving after 2 glasses of wine, that is why I drink only on the weekend.

I don’t like sweet drinks or heavy stuff, but I loooove red wine and dark beer. Personally, I would be very sad if I wouldn’t be able to have few glasses over the weekend when my husband BBQ the best steaks ever or yummy ribs, soooo good!

Btw, 1 oz of red wine = 24 cal
Cheers , its Friday !

Ha Ha I have had a time or two that one glass of wine led to the whole bottle. I had a party all by myself.

And for you point of reference, standard bottles of wines are 25.4 ounces.

Other than the one glass of wine turning into the whole bottle problem, my other problem with wine is 4 oz is just too small! I like the big glasses! I have learned just to stay away. Right now I am trying to cut out all alcohol. It makes me feel a little better and more in control, but it sure is hard to do!

Alcohol is a diuretic, so it makes sense that you have noticed less water weight the day after. On the same hand, if you are dehydrated it is important to drink water while you drink, lest you wake up with a hangover.

One bottle of wine has 500 calories. So, about 125 calories per glass.

Also, I don't think wine makes you hungry.. I think wine breaks down your resolve and makes you want to eat

PS. I loooooooooove wine

Hmmm, wine isn't as bad as I thought it was (calorie-wise anyway)! I have been ignoring a left over bottle of my favorite white zinfandel since Christmas.

How many calories are generally in white wines (per oz.)?

ars, that bottle probably needs tossed by now..

I love red wine, white wine, gin, vodka, you name it! I allow for it and have a cocktail or two/three a week. I had 2 glasses of wine tonight at a superbowl party. I enjoy it so much that I just make room for it in my daily count.
