Reached a plateau (I think!)
Urgh :(
Hi guys~ So I've been calorie counting for nearly seven weeks now, and it really has worked a treat. I'm 5ft6, and down to 139 pounds- 9st12 from what I was, which was 11st3 originally. I eat 1200-1300 calories a day, which I find perfectly fine for me~ I have three meals a day, and a snack in the evening with the calories left over, everything's been running smoothly~ I don't eat chocolate, or crisps or anything unhealthy, as a vegetarian I eat mainly vegtables and so I'm happy. But for the last two weeks, I've only lost 2 pounds, and it's really bumming me out. I excercise daily because I walk to school and back and its about 2 and half miles each way, I'm eating well~ so I don't get where I'm going wrong? Any advice would be really appreicated :) |

I wouldn't say that you've reached a plateau; you're still losing. When you plateau, you stay at the same level you're at for a long time. A pound a week is GREAT! If you wanted to lose a little more per week, try eating a little more. Add in 100 calories a day for a week and see what happens. |
I plateau'd last month (which was an awful start to the new year, I think you'll agree...) so I just re-evaluated my calories, added 100 more to my day, and then upped my exercise a bit.
Are you able to do another walk a day, or something? Sometimes we just need to shuffle things up a bit. |
Are you drinking enough water?

I think I've reached a plateau, since coming back to school I've not lost a single pound, the only changes in my weight are from water/sodium, I'm pretty sure. It is horribly frustrating and I don't know what to do to change it. I'm upping my calories, and going to try something new at the gym today. I am also going to try and keep even better track of my calories, not a lick will go without my noting it.
Humph, I hate this! (Yes, I will be grouchy :) ) |
If you are still losing it's not a plateau.
Funny thing about weight loss, the smaller you are, the slower it is. It took me 1 week to lose my first 10 pounds, and 10 weeks to lose my last 10. You are in a normal BMI range and your body does not freely let go of pounds when you are in optimal shape. Try to think realistically...the last 8 will come off very slowly, and you will probably never get to eat much more than 1500-1800 calories a day without gaining, it will never end, unless you give up... Sucks, but it's life. |
hey guys!
Thanks for all the feedback~ Toobig, I don't actually drink alot of water, so thankyou for bringing that to my attention:) I'm glad that it being slow is just normal then~ Hopefully I can stay patient! :D Thank you everyone! |
