why have i stopped loosing weight?

Hi

i have just started calorie counting and excercising after a year off during which my weight stayed the same (dont know how though)

i am eating about 1200 and buring around a 100 a day on my wii fit plus.

the first week i lost a few pounds but now it has stopped and i dont do anything different?

i dont think i should be eating more as i have never been a big eater and eat under 2000 calories anyway and put on three stone in four years! i am only 4ft 10 and have a sit down job.

any ideas?

thanks :dizzy:

It probably is the amount of cals your eating, honestly.

Be aware hormones and, weight gain due to it, can mask weight loss. When you were losing hand over foot it was easy to see, now that you are at a more sustainable 1 or 2 lb loss it can be hidden - for a long time - my hormones / water.

I would have thought you were eating too few calories, but you're quite a small lady :) Try eating more calories, like 1400-1600, for a week and see what happens? Since you're not losing right now anyway, and 1400 certainly won't make you gain weight, why not give it a shot?

There was a point where I was trying to lose weight at a sit down job and had 1200 a day - I didn't lose weight at all.

Yep, I agree that you should up your cals for a week and see what happens. I had to do the same when I first started and lost more weight eating a couple hundred more calories a day than eating less.

You just have to find that balance for your own body! Good luck!

Shoot for 1400-1500. 1200 with excersize is too few no matter what size adult.

hi ladies

thanks for the advice, i will try and eat more but eep scary!

do you think your body reacts better if you vary your calorie intake like one week 1400 the next 1200 and vary the intensity of the excercise you do etc?

i am sure all my weight gain has been hormones, i never used to eat a lot and was allways a healty weight 105 pounds (sounds low but rember i am a short arse lol) snce being on contreception my weight has spiraled up and up :-(

i cant come off of contreception pill for obvious reasons, is there any truth these increase your risk of weight gain? is there things i can do to help?

much love

Hormones can cause alot of water retention, five pounds to ten pounds worth honestly. Please just keep doing a good job at dieting/exercising and give your body time. I know on diets I've been on before, I will go for weeks and not lose anything and then all of a sudden I will have a woosh moment and I'll lose anywhere from 2-4 pounds in a couple of days. I figured it out that that is just how my body does weight loss. Maybe your body is like mine, maybe you will have a "woosh" in a week or two that will leave you a few pounds lighter. Just keep on the straight and narrow path, you are doing great! I know it's so hard to be patient. I'm thinking, I need to be on a diet for a year and I'm wondering how on earth I will last that long. Sigh.

Yeah, try to increase calories... and don't stress out over plateaus. I have those and they can last for me up to 2 weeks (I'm beginning to suspect that it happens as a monthly event :). once those events are over, I'm back on the weight loss track

I don't know WHERE online I found it, but I found somewhere that instead of just doing 1500 calories everyday (or 1200, 1300 etc) to do Monday - 1718, Tuesday - 1480, Wednesday - 1560 and so on... aka somewhere online, i found some guide where for MY weight loss, to change the calories everyday... I'm sure if you do a google on calorie counting you'll find something like this.
I think it helps.. because if you're basically doing the same calories everyday, your body gets used to that, but if you're doing like, 1718 one day, and 1480 the next, your body keeps the metabolism going to drop the weight because it's a change and it's different from the day before! try it out!

I've been at a plateau too, so I have tried to eat at the top of my range the past couple of days and hoping that will make SOMETHING happen by Monday, when I do my weigh in.

hi i found nutrition http://nutrition.about.com/od/change...a/calguide.htm

i worked it out for myself and i am sure its more calories than i ate before dieting so why have it put on weight? i am finding t hard to understand how eatng more will work. but i promise to try x

can someone else use this and see if it fits for them? etc?

much love
