Hard work.... and I gained????
WTF! I worked my butt off at the gym all last week and stayed on plan minus one dinner out and I gained a pound? :( :(:(
Seriously! I was hoping for a good loss this week to motivate me big time and instead I get up only to see the scale go up? And my dinner out was not that much damage :) |
Did you strength train? I find that when I start back up at the gym I retain water (because I am not drinking enough for my exertion). I will gain a few lbs. til I drink a crapload of water and watch my sodium intake as well as my calories. don't let a pound discourage you...wait another week and keep at the gym...nobody gets fat from being active i'll tell you that!! :-p
|
This is why I decided to do ONLY cardio in gym until I reach my goal weight. Strength training make number on scale go up, even though you don’t gain fat.
Keep going and maybe do only cardio for one week and see if you will loose. |
i think i may start just doing cardio and yoga stretching after, then...maybe a few pushups and abs to keep muscle tone...it seems like what you do works for you. cardio definitely burns more immediate calories.

Muscle and /or water retention from stressing the muscles....it is really a good thing...because even though the scale moves up, the fat is actually moving out faster.
|
ive done the same thing! it gets frustrating but you will see results in the next week i bet! the added muscle you put on will help you burn more when you do more cardio!
|
I would strongly advise NOT cutting out strength training just to keep the scale steady. After all, in reality, when we go out in public and try on cute clothes, they don't have the scale number printed on them...people just see our bodies. And if you are lifting weights, you'll probably find that you lose inches and sizes faster, even if the scale number goes down slower...not to mention that building muscle, over time, can increase your metabolism such that you can eat more to maintain your weight.
