  • Just for kicks, I just went in and put in an old "typical day" of eating for me. I'm in shock and it's no wonder I am here!

    Breakfast: oatmeal, glass of milk
    snack: chips and coke
    lunch: sandwich, chips, apple, cookie
    snack: nachos
dinner: spaghetti, garlic bread, ice cream

Just guess! Don't even look at my number, just guess! It's shocking!

    6,824 calories in ONE day!!
  • It's crazy
  • Crazy!!! Good thing you don't eat that amount now. That would be about my "old" typical day also.
  • Crazy thing is, that's how a lot of people eat. Every day. It's very sad.

I have a girlfriend who says she eats healthy and doesn't eat too much, but she often orders fast food (several times a week) and drinks a lot of soda. She tells me she wants to lose weight, but refuses to acknowledge that there's a problem with her food choices. It's sad because her life is so crazy, and it's really hard for her to plan ahead. I want to help, but it's not really my place --she has made that VERY clear!!. eta: and I know it really is up to the individual to make his/her own changes. all I can do is set an example.

I feel bad for the people that just don't know any better. Isn't it great to know about food choices!?
  • Omg!
  • EGADS! Yeah when I tracked my calories just to see what I was eating I found I was eating at least 2500 a day! NO freaking wonder I hit 235! The worst I believe I calculated was like 5000 calories- I CRINGED at that
  • Whew, I know I ate a lot of calories. The other night I was at a meeting and a gal brought in McDonalds 2 eat and she had a sandwich that has 770 calories in it. I wanted 2 tell her so bad...but it really isn't my business. I just know I ate lots of o'calories in the PAST!
  • I know exactly what you mean. I was looking for something healthy grilled salmon turned out to be 1200 cal (maybe more).
  • I used to eat at least one ritter sport chocolate bar a day along with 3 meals, chips, two bowls of rice in each meal. I gained weight so fast from this kind of activity and it is really shocking how many calories are in such unsatisfying foods.
  • Holy crow! You must have been eating the whole bag of chips each time! WOW!
  • Quote: Holy crow! You must have been eating the whole bag of chips each time! WOW!
Nope. That was for a snack size bag.
  • You must have been eating the whole loaf of french bread and carton of ice cream then?

The highest I've ever been able to get is 3000 in one day and that was eating the crappiest most non-nutrient foods I could find.
  • Well, I hope I did something wrong! LOL! I thought that was ridiculous count too. That's what I got on Fitday and that looked like a fairly normal day to me.
  • I was just thinking what I would eat to try to get to 5000 calories. I always get so full but I thought I could have biscuits and gravy for breakfast. A Big Mac for lunch/fries/etc. And for dinner I want full fat fettucine alfredo and cheesecake for dessert. I would have to be up for 20 hours though to be able to eat all that in one day. I don't think that is 5000 cals though. Wouldn't this make for a funny challenge?
  • My old typical day:

On the way home from work in the morning

Jack in the box Chicken Fingers: 510
Jack in the box Cheese Sticks: 485
Jack in the box Sauces: 230
Jack in the box Soda: 310
Jack in the box Oreo Cookie Shake: 740

    After napping

    Spaghetti O's - 480
Half to full can of Pringles - 500 (conservatively)
    Reeces Cups (2 packages) - 520
    Soda (2-3 cans) - 500 (conservatively)

A few hours later Generally another bout of fast food or delivery pizza...

So... we are talking 4,275 calories in "2 meals" - not counting everything else.
    Amazing.
