Don't Know Calorie Count, what to do
Howdy,
What do you do if you can't find the calorie count of a food? We fixed a delicious ham last night for our Christmas party. I ate 4, 1" sq pieces of the crispy outer layer of skin/fat. Would you count this is as a tbs of oil or just a serving of ham? Thanks, Karen |
I would count that like chicken skin or any other fat. You're probably pretty close with counting a TBS of oil.

I re googled on cooked pork cracklings calorie count and at this site alfitness.com.au/food-calorie-counter.asp?id=2348&sword=Pork&page found that 5 grams was 27 calories. Cracklings don't weigh that much (these were very thin), so I estimated on the high side and lets say 15 grams tops getting out the cooked ham part and trying to eyeball it. This is only 81 calories which seems too low, KWIM. I want to be accurate without being scrupulous. Oct 6 is when I started recording my calories, weight started dropping, and today it went up. Which might be because of the sodium content as much as anything else. Sorry for the rambling thoughts. |
