Breakfast question
I am wondering what I should add to my breakfast. I usually have 2 large soft or hard-boiled eggs, an apple and a tablespoon of peanut butter (to spread on the apple slices).
Calorie-wise it seems kind of skimpy to me. Is there anything else I could add to this to make it a breakfast that would keep me fuller for longer? I am on 1500 calories a day. I am also looking for other breakfast ideas. |
Are you on low carb? I am trying to cut carbs and my breakfast is actually pretty similar to yours. I always have a couple of eggs. Also I throw in some cheese or yogurt or a piece of ham.
If not on low carb diet, how about some whole wheat toast? |
I would add some cheese to it or OH! you could make some oatmeal and add in your apple chopped up and stir in the pnut butter. You probably won't be hungry for the hb egg but you could eat that as a snack in an hour or two.

I would think the egg and pb would be filling for a while. How soon after breakfast are you hungry? Having a snack before lunch?
|
That sounds reasonable to me. I like a mid-morning snack to keep my blood sugar stable and keep me on track for the day.
With 1500 calories, that seems to be a perfect-size breakfast if you are eating 3 meals and s couple snacks during the day. Maybe more fiber would keep you fuller longer. Some of my breakfast choices include: Fiber One with yogurt, nuts, and fruit Oatmeal with milk, nuts, and fruit Egg, MSF sausage and Thomas Light Multigrain English Muffin Oatmeal with PB and fruit SouthBeach High Protein Living Breakfast Bar (grab and go breakfast option) Banana, English Muffin with Laughing Cow or PB |
Thank you for the replies. I should have mentioned that I am celiac so while the oatmeal would be okay as a suggestion the gluten items would not.
Unfortunately it seems I am going to have to give up the peanut butter. Everytime I ate it I got heartburn. I will have to try other types of nut butters because I am thinking it might just be the peanuts. Whenever I ate peanuts I had the same heartburn but pb had never bothered me until now. Weird. |
You can try almond butter or cheese on gluten-free bread to give yourself a few more calories. How about making that an omelette with some mushrooms or other veggies or lean ham in it, plus cheese; and a slice of GF toast on the side? I think BF is an important meal after the long night sleep and you could afford to up the calories for this meal ...
BTW -- the New CANADIAN WINTER thread is up and running again in the SUPPORT GROUPS forum, if you'd like to chat with some other Canadians sometime. |
