eating out - help

I'm supposed to meet my in-laws at A&W for lunch. Not my first choice, but whatever, I don't want to start a family feud over my diet right now. I am going to get a chicken grill deluxe (and possibly a side salad with water or diet coke) which is listed at 320 cals, but i'm going to order it dry... so how many calories do you think i could subtract for no light ranch dressing on it?

Elsewhere on a&w's site it lists 32g of light ranch dressing at 70 cals... so would it be fair to say the sandwich will probably weigh in around 280 w/o the dressing?

Based on its weight and restaurant "standards" for nutrition information, I'd guess that serving of salad dressing they listed is 2 tablespoons. I have never been to A&W, but 1 tablespoon seems like a realistic amount of dressing to put on a chicken sandwich. So your guess sounds right on.

Thanks mayness.... I just got back and I had a side salad and also a diet coke with the chick sandwich... I only used half the balsamic dressing packet w/ the salad, so I am going to log the meal at about 350 calories, which really isn't terrible for fast food and does fit in my plan for today.... major NSV for me actually because normally I struggle to not cave in and order a huge burger meal w/ fries... I actually only ate 3 tiny fries from my kids' meals and then I told myself that I had a small taste, and that was fine, and now it was time to STOP... and I did... I'm proud of myself that I stayed in control, ordered what I planned on ordering and didn't binge! :-) :carrot:

Excellent non-scale victory. :cheer: :bravo:

A&W would not be my first choice either but you did very well.

Just out of curisoity what is your calorie goal per day? 350 calores for a full meal seems WAYYYY to low.

My calorie goal is 1200-1500 per day..... lunch is usually a small meal for me... and I do snack in the afternoon on raw fruits and veggies (I have a toddler and a preschooler who need snacks after their nap, it's hard to feed them snacks and not have any myself)

Congraqtulaions on making a wise choice.
Note to benchmarkman, I often have a 300-350 lunch, but I always have a snack about 3 hours later and count those calories in for the day.
