I love this because it's lowfat and quick to make.

    Quick Granola

    6 cups rolled oats
¼ cup sunflower seeds, chopped walnuts or sliced almonds
¼ cup frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
    2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
optional: 1 teaspoon cinnamon, or more to taste

½ cup raisins or dried cranberries

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 3 baking sheets.

In a large bowl mix oats, nuts, apple juice and oil together. Add cinnamon in desired. Spread on baking sheets and bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Cool, then add raisins or dried cranberries.

  • I have been making my own granola for years. Your whole house will smell wonderful when toasting the granola in the oven. There are so many different items that you can add to it. So have fun and experiment and make it YOUR WAY!

    Homemade Granola
    by Faith

    INGREDIENTS:
    4 cups uncooked oatmeal
1 1/2 cups wheat germ (raw or toasted)
    1 cup grated coconut (unsweetened)
    1-2 tbsp cinnamon
    1 tbsp brown sugar
    1/3 cup vegetable oil
    1/2 cup honey
    1 tbsp vanilla

    OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS:
    1/4 cup powdered milk
    1/2 cup ground flax seed
    1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup raw nuts, seeds or raisins etc

    INSTRUCTIONS:
In large bowl, mix dry ingredients. Add the powdered milk and ground flax seed at this time if you choose to add them to the granola. In a saucepan combine oil, honey and vanilla and warm. Add these to the dry ingredients and stir till all particles are coated. (Hand mixing works well here.) Spread this mixture out in a low pan or rimmed baking sheets that have been greased, and bake at either:

250 degrees for an hour or 300 degrees for half an hour depending on your time schedule.

Turn this with a spatula from time to time. When finished toasting, add your dried fruits such as raisins. When cool, store in an air tight container.

    VARIATIONS:
There are so many options for ingredients to use in your homemade granola. I have only listed a few of them. You can experiment and end up with your favorite granola mixture. You'll never have to get bored with granola. . .just change your optional ingredients.
