OMG! Fried Bologna Sammiches!!
I never knew bologna came fat free until I was looking at the hungry girl site. I have always loved fried bologna sammiches.
I dunno how many calories is in a regular fried bologna that I would ordinarily make, I'm sure its a motherload. I went to the grocery store to pick up some today, I couldn't wait to try it. :D So it's what I had for supper tonight. 2 slices Natures own honey wheat light toasted (80 cal) 2 slices fried bologna (pan fried in a nonstick pan with a bit of canola pam spray) (40 cal) 1 tbsp Hellmans low fat mayo (15 cal) 2 tsp yellow mustard (0 cal) 1 slice fat free american cheese (30 cal) 42 g romaine lettuce (10 cal) 175 total calories for my sammich and it was yummy! :carrot: This isn't something I will have all the time because I can see that it could pose a problem for me. But it sure is nice to have something to fall back on that's one of my favorites. |
it's awesome you can have a favorite incorporated into your Weight loss plan.

I use bologna with fat free american on sandwiches sometimes, but the sodium... argh. I only like american cheese for 2 things, with bologna or in grilled cheese which I can make on the foreman grill.
Ok sometimes I like it with fat free hot dogs too, but the sodium... ARGH. |
I would have added some slices of tomato into that sandwich.
Sounds delish. :) |
I'd swap the American for Cheddar because American sucks. I would eat more too. 175 calories is no where near enough calories for 1 meal.

Oh man, I looove that fat-free bologna. I haven't had that in a year or so, maybe it's time for a treat. The nice thing is that it actually freezes/thaws well, so I can freeze it in 2-slice portions, and not end up eating it all over the course of 2-3 days.

I don't think american sucks at all, I like it very much. It's what I was raised on. :D Quote:
I think I'll do that so I wont be tempted to eat more than I should. |
There's only 70 calories in a slice of "real" bologna: http://www.nutrientfacts.com/FoodPag...es_Bologna.htm

But I need 2 slices of it cause I like to put my cheese between the two slices of bologna so it melts between the bologna. I'm a bit anal about that for some reason. |
ohhhh yummo!!!! I use 2 slices to because I do just exactly what you do.. I also MUST have some ketchup on the sandwich :) and I cant stand it with anything other than the american slices... I was raised on it to :)

im cooking ******ed, how exactly do you "fry" bologna?
|
Well, I have seen some folks deep fry it and some pan fry it. I pan fry it. Even before I began counting calories I used a non stick skillet that I sprayed with pam, take the bologna out of the package and put it in the pan, and heat on medium until both sides of the bologna is browned. It's sort of like you would cook hot dogs in a pan, I guess.
The Fat Free bologna doesn't brown as well as regular does but it still is alright with me. :D |
thanks@@
