Mac & Cheese Calorie Question
I am trying to figure out how many calories are in the powdered cheese packets usually found inside the box of Mac & Cheese boxes.
I stand by the wonder of whole foods primarily. However, last night I caved. I rinsed and dried my 40 calories worth of Shiratake noodles. Then I opened a very old box of Mac & Cheese and grabbed the cheese packet out. I mixed it with Fat-Free Butter spray and skim milk. I have to say--DAYUM good and so addressed my craving for something awful. I would love to know the damage though. Thanks Chicks. |
No idea, but if you weigh the pasta you should be able to figure it out. Most dry pasta runs about 100 cals/oz. Sorry, I've never bought mac&cheese, but if there's an as packaged calorie count just subtract the pasta from it. Just make sure you see how many servings that's supposed to be.

I am not sure how correct this but I found this answer
"About 112 calories. I order just the cheese from Kraft and looked on the jar that I have. There are 25 calories per 2 teaspoons of cheese powder and there is about 3 Tablespoons (or 9 teaspoons) in the packet that comes in the regular size (not family size) Kraft Mac & Cheese. If you want any of the other nutrition info you can e-mail either me or Kraft. They were very quick to respond to my questions." Thank you both for your responses. I very much appreciate your help! My daughter made babydoll food out of the boxed pasta. Lol. No way to way that goop now! LOL.
Wow--you can order the powdered cheese from Kraft? I never knew that. My mac & cheese was actually generic but I assume it has to be similar. Between 200-300 is about what I estimated and that included my Shiratake noodles. I could have done with less cheese. I will do this recipe again but with less of the packet next time--or maybe I will just order some of the cheese from Kraft. Thank you again. |
You can usually get powered cheese mix in the bulk food stores. I know I've seen it when looking for other things. They seem to love reorganizing my local bulk food place. I suppose it's probably to make you look around more and buy new things. :)
