Not getting enough calories?

I am writing down everything I eat and so far today for breakfast, lunch and snacks I've only eaten about 500 calories. Yesterday I only reached about 900 Calories for the whole day but I feel that I ate plenty. This is what I ate: For breakfast I had one egg on top of a pile of steamed spinach. For a snack I had a slim fast bar. For lunch I had a spinach salad with ham, bean sprouts and a low fat asian dressing and a banana. For snack I had 10 almonds and 3 pretzel straws. For dinner I will have a pork chop w/whole wheat stuffing and some green beans. Popcorn for snack. All that food adds up to about 1080 calories for the whole day...but it seems like i've eaten enough. But i've heard I need to eat at least 1200-1300 a day! What should I do?

what about more whole wheat carbs? especially for lunch.
or up your protein in the morning. or add a whole wheat bread slice.
add some fruit to your breakfast,...

i say more whole wheat cabrs too..they easssily add in more calories.

and as you've probably heard it before, most people shouldn't go below 1200 cals a day.

You can have larger snacks, for one thing! Try lowfat cottage cheese (2%) with half a dozen crackers, or some tuna with crackers, or an apple with 1 TBSP of peanut butter.

Aim for 100-200 cals for your snacks and around 300-400 for your meals. You can vary them as needed.

Good luck!

I stick to around 1200 a day as well. I love eating those clif bars when I need a boost. They're usually around 240/250 calories and have all the healthy carbs in them

Where's the dairy?

Throw in some peanut butter. If you're finding that your not hungry but have to increase your calories, peanut butter is a great way to do it! A piece of wheat toast with 2 tbsp of pb will easily add another 200-300 calories, depending on the type of bread & pb... And the pb is a great source of protein also....

I agree add in some dairy. Cheese, yogurt, glass of milk, etc.
