What to eat at Outback?
My sister calls up and wants to go to Outback for her husbands birthday. I glady accept the invite and get off the phone and stress. I have no Idea what to eat there and can't seem to find a calorie count for anything.
My normal meal there is the Alice Springs chicken with no mushrooms. Steamed Broccoli and a side salad with only lettuce, cheese, and ranch dressing. Anyone have any suggestions on this restaurant? |
Whatever you eat, specify 'dry' or no butter. Even their steak is marinated in butter.
Although they don't specify calories, they do tell you how to order. http://www.outback.com/foodandmenus/...arthealthydiet The Daily Plate does have some calorie counts for Outback http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutriti...ack-steakhouse |
I get "Chicken on the Barbie" when we go there....grilled chicken with steamed brocolli. BBQ sauce on the side. No bread.
Enjoy! :) |
Thank you.
I use Daily Plate to keep track of my calories. Didn't think about putting in Outback there. Looking at their menu still not sure how I am going to eat there safely. |

Thanks! |
I get the grilled salmon (dry, no butter), double order of steamed veggies. House salad to start (no cheese), dressing on the side. Small piece of the brown bread (because I love it!). But I ask the waitress to take the bread away after I cut my piece!

Denise,
You definitely have to ask for no butter if you want no butter. I'm vegan and ate at Outback (trust me, wasn't my choice). I had a sweet potato with a double order of veggies, no butter on any of it. Otherwise the sweet potato and the veggies would've came with butter. Was actually one of the cheapest meals I've ever had, I think they charged $3 or something for it. |
I get the seared tuna appetizer, dry sweet potato, and broccoli. It is fabulous! Outback is one place where you really can eat out and still stay on plan pretty well. Easier than most restaurants, I'd say! You'll be fine, relax and have a great time with your family! That's the most important thing! :)

I remember eating there with my ex-bf when we were dating and watching him down a Bloomin' Onion in no time flat. Later on I looked up the calorie count of it and it was 2310 calories. I darn near fell over from shock. |
Yep...ask for no butter or oil.
:) We eat out a LOT because my hubby does not have a health concious bone in his body. I've become a bit of a master at eating all all kinds of places. Chicken and veggies is my basic fall back. I'm even starting to remember which places have the best veggies. |
Thanks Ladies. I am looking forward to something like Grilled Chicken, Broccoli, sweet potato, side salad. not all of that but those are the options I am leaning towards. I really don't eat fish.
|
When in doubt don't forget you can eat half of it and save the rest for tomorrow!
|
now that will take some self control :)
I know this is not the way to do it but I had very few calories today to make up for what I will eat at Dinner Plus it is the first time I have really exercise and I walked/jogged 4 miles in 55 minutes around a nearby neighborhood. So even eating almost the normal food I eat there. I will still be in my calorie range. (but I will try and leave some, the only bad things is, it will be calling my name all night) Thanking maybe get over the night and get back on better track tomorrow. |
This is a good thread - I'm only a month in to my "diet." and eating out is the hardest thing and i've found it drives me NUTS if I dont know how many calories I'm eating. Any suggestions for Mexican restaurants???
