I can do this!!

  • I've been counting calories this week for the first time. I'm finding it isnt to hard to do. The other day I did have to many calories left at the end of the day but I guess its all trial and error. Practice makes perfect.
I never realized how many carbs I get a day!
But other than that it has been a good week. I've been exercising everyday and feel pretty good. Now I need to see a loss.. I think maybe I have to stop weighing myself everyday. Maybe if I do it only once a week then I will push myself harder. It will be like a competition with myself.
I hope everyone has a great Friday!!!
  • That is awesome I like to plan my whole day of meals and snacks ahead of time so I know exactly where I am at and won't be left with too many or few calories left. It has been alittle over a month for me and it gets easier and just a part of my daily routine now lol.

I weigh myself everyday because I am a nut lol but I make just one day a week my offical weigh in day none of the other days count lol Every friday!

    Goodluck counting!
  • This has been my first serious calorie counting week also and I too have to say that this has been much easier than I thought it would be. I also pre-plan my days so I won't be stuck trying to figure out what to eat while hungry. You'll see a drop soon I am sure. I weighed in today 4 pounds lighter then last Friday, so it works!
  • I like calorie counting because it really helps me be mindful of what goes in my mouth.

    You CAN do it!
  • You CAN do this!!!

I honestly feel that counting is one of (if not the) best ways to keep our weight off. This method isnt automatic meals that wont last forever, or a point system. This teaches us skills & knowledge we will know for LIFE!! Perhaps Im a tad biased.

Honestly, after 8 weeks of ridiculous counting, I stopped, and now only check if I dont know a certain food, or if Im going out to eat & want to pick which dish I want to eat. Ive lost 4lbs since Ive stopped counting officially, so it has to be stuck in there right?

    Hooray for us!
  • Calorie Counting is honestly the best way to lose weight. As long as you are conscious of what you eat and how many calories it is.. you will be a pro.

I found the first week hard because I was craving really junky food (pop, chips, bad crackers... etc) but now that I have been at it for awhile, I dont really find it that hard!
  • One way I make sure I get in all my calories for the day is to split them up. I have to have a certain amount by 10:00am, then another amount by 2:00pm and then another amount by 8:00pm. That way I'm not at the at the end of the day with too many left over...or worse yet none left for my 8:00 snack!

I think at first, especially if you are really motivated, it is kind of hard to get them all in...but TRUST ME...lol, after a while you will be figuring and planning how to get in every last one of them!
  • Believe me, you will see a drop! If it frustrates you to weigh in so often, why not skip a few days at a time, or even a week? I know my weight can fluctuate by several pounds due to water weight. One time I weighed 5 lbs more one day than the next... that was when I convinced myself to stay off the scale.

How do you feel? More energetic or tired, thinner or bloated?
  • Absolutely YOU CAN DO THIS! It is so incredibly exciting and it absolutely works.

Vegas is spot on. The beautiful thing about calorie counting is that is really all about you. You are very in control and it relies on no external sources--gym memberships, personal trainers, meal delivery systems, etc. What you learn through calorie counting will serve you the rest of your life if you allow it to.

Welcome to the club. Also, there are some of us that regularly calorie cycle and notice scale results when we do. Listen to your body's cues. There are some days you will want to eat more, and some less. As long as your average is decent, you are in awesome shape. Good luck to you.
  • I have to agree with everyone calorie counting is really all about you and it's something that will help you and can use for the rest of your life.. I did 10 days on the EFS(extreme fat smash diet) which is really low in calories and I did lose weight but I missed calorie counting and having a more of a choice.

As far as the scale goes, I try to weigh 1 time a week at the same time and in the same clothes. I've weighed before at a different time and in different clothes and was 3 pounds heavier and then the next day weighed again in same clothes and same time and it showed a 2 pound loss.. You also have to take in account water because we women tend to retain a lot of it... but try not to get frustrated if the scales aren't moving because it will show up that's for sure.. and don't forget inches that you are losing
