how many calories would you count for one big sip of soda

the girl at the drive through gave me regular soda instead of my diet coke... I'm not sure what soda it was .. I'm guessing regular coke.. or maybe dr. pepper... couldnt tell but I took one big drink of it and then realized it wasn't my diet coke because it tasted wayyyy to sugary... (I cant believe I ever drank regular soda it seems sooo sweet now it practically gives me a tooth ache)

any ways I cant figure out how many cals I should count it as.. I had one big long sip.. basically a mouth full of soda.. I know a whole can of coke is 140 cals... Do you think some where between 20-50 cals would be accurate to count?

I would think about 15 calories - thinking about 1 ounce.

When you consider that 25 calories would be 2 ounces or about a quarter cup, that's would be a pretty huge gulp, more of a chug. So yeah, one long sip would be unlikely to contain more than an ounce.

I seriously wouldn't worry about it. Just enjoy your drink of soda. And keep making good choices.

You could try to measure it by sipping up the same amount of water and spitting it out into some kind of measuring container. I have a large and a small jigger which measures teaspoons, ounces, tablespoons, etc...

It won't be completely accurate but I'll give you a good estimate.

I would totally not even worry about it. 25-50 calories is not going to matter, unless you had seven or eight swigs a pop per day and decided not to count them. :)

I'd vote for 10 calories but I personally wouldnt bother logging it. Not for a one time thing.

I use 25 calories as my standard Just A Bit (or Just A Sip). Sometimes that is high, others it is low, so it sort of balances out.

MindiV 03-11-2009 09:35 AM

I wouldn't personally log it. For a while I DID log every single morsel of everything I put in my mouth, even if it was only one single, tiny bite. I drove myself NUTS trying to figure how many calories there would be in a single bite of a pan of lasagna one time. That's when I gave it up. I try NOT to take those single bites, but when they happen I just let it go, move on and make better choices in the future.

Congrats to you, though, for not finishing the whole thing!!!

I'm with Monte Cristo, I have to log everything or it makes me crazy thinking about the missing item all day! :) I used 25 also.

I wouldn't, it wouldn't be that big of a deal to me.

I wouldn't bother counting it.
